    Abstract: The invention relates to a transparent, thermoplastic moulding composition containing, based on A + B, A from 5 to 95% by weight of polystyrene which has been produced in a manner known per se by free-radical polymerisation, B from 95 to 5% by weight of a non-elastomeric block copolymer which is branched in a star-shaped manner, built up from, based on B, b1 from 60 to 95% by weight of styrene and b2 from 5 to 40% by weight of at least one conjugated diene having 4 or 5 carbon atoms, which has been prepared by sequential anionic polymerisation using at least one organolithium compound as initiator and in the presence of a solvent, where firstly, in a first process step, an amount of styrene S1 of from 50 to 80% by weight of the styrene, based on the total amount of styrene, is polymerised in the presence of an amount of initiator I1 and then, in a second process step, a smaller amount of styrene S2 is polymerised with simultaneous addition of a further amount of initiator I2, and, in a third process step of the polymerisation, a mixture of a residual amount of styrene, S3, and the total amount of the diene are reacted, followed by coupling and work-up of the reaction product, characterised in that the amount of initiator I1 in the 1st process step is from 0.05 to 1.0 mmol/100 g of total monomer and that, in the 2nd process step, an amount of styrene S2 of from 12 to 47% by weight of styrene, based on the total amount of styrene, ... in the presence of from 0.5 to 10 mmol/100 g ...     Abstract: Graft copolymers are obtained by an aqueous- phase process in which polymerization of the rubber-elastic base is taken to completion and an N-oxyl radical compound of a sec. amine with no hydrogens on the alpha -carbon atom is added before and/or during polymerization of the grafted shell. A process for the production, in the aqueous phase, of graft copolymers (A) of (a1) 30-95 wt% rubber-elastic graft base derived from (a11) 50-100 wt% conjugated diene and (a12) 0-50 wt% other monounsaturated monomer(s) or from (a11 asterisk ) 50-100 wt% 1-10C alkyl acrylate, (a12 asterisk ) 0-10 wt% polyfunctional crosslinking monomer and (a13 asterisk ) 0-40 wt% other monounsaturated monomer(s) and (a2) 5-70 wt% grafted shell derived from (a21) 50-100 wt% styrene compound of formula (S): R , R = H or 1-8 C alkyl (a22) 0-40 wt% (meth)acrylonitrile and (a23) 0-40 wt% other monounsaturated monomer(s). In this process, polymerization of the base stage (a1) is taken to completion and then at least one N-oxyl radical compound of a sec. amine with no hydrogen atoms on the alpha -carbon atom is added before and/or during polymerization stage (a2). An Independent claim is also included for graft copolymers obtained by this process.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a molding composition made from linear or star-shaped styrene/butadiene block copolymers produced by anionic polymerization, of general structure (A)m-X, wherein A is a block copolymer section consisting of at least one polystyrene block with a molecular mass of 3,000 to 230,000 (g/mol) and a polybutadiene block with a molecular mass of 2,000 to 30,000 (g/mol), with A having a total molecular mass of 5,000 to 300,000 (g/mol), the block transitions are sharp or blurred and, to prevent decomposition due to light, atmospheric oxygen and/or heat, the molding composition contains 0.01 to 1 wt.% alpha -tocopherol, 0.1 to 2 wt.% organic phosphite of the general formula RO3P, in which R is alkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl, and 0.01 to 2 wt.% sterically hindered phenol.
