Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a water-soluble copolymer of at least one kind of water-soluble N-vinyl lactam and at least one kind of hydrophobic comonomer by the radical polymerization of the monomers in an organic solvent. SOLUTION: A vinyl lactam copolymer is produced by the radical polymerization of at least one kind of water-soluble N-vinyl lactam and at least one kind of hydrophobic comonomer in an organic solvent in the presence of an initiator under refluxing condition. In the above method, a part of the solvent is distilled off after converting 90-99 wt.% of the used vinyl lactam and the polymerization is continued. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for producing a copolymer composed of at least one kind of hydrophilic N-vinyl lactam and at least one kind of hydrophobic comonomer and soluble in water to form a transparent solution by the radical copolymerization of the monomers in an organic solvent. SOLUTION: A vinyl lactam copolymer is produced by the radical polymerization of at least one kind of water-soluble N-vinyl lactam and at least one kind of hydrophobic comonomer in an organic solvent in the presence of an initiator. The polymerization is carried out under a gauge pressure to prevent the evaporation of the components. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of polyvinyl lactame-polyalkylene oxide block copolymers as solubilisers for poorly water-soluble substances.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of copolymers which comprise a) 60 to 99 % by weight of N-vinylcaprolactam; b) 1 to 40 % by weight of at least one monomer b) selected from the group including: b1) C8-C30 alkyl esters of monoethylenically unsaturated C3-C8 carboxylic acids; b2) N-alkyl- or N,N-dialkyl-substituted amides of the acrylic acid or the methacrylic acid with C8 to C30 alkyl groups; b3) the vinyl esters of aliphatically unbranched C8-C30 carboxylic acids; b4) the C8-C30 alkyl-vinyl ethers, as solubilizers for substances that are difficult to dissolve in water.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of copolymers obtained by radically polymerising a mixture of i) 30-80 % by weight N-vinyllactam, ii) 10-50 % by weight vinylacetate, and iii) 10-50 % by weight polyether, wherein the sum of the components i), ii) and iii) is equal to 100 % by weight as solubilisers for poorly water-soluble substances.
Abstract:

A method for the production of vinyl-lactam copolymers (I) by radical polymerisation of water-soluble N-vinyl-lactams (NVL) and hydrophobic comonomers in refluxing organic solvent in presence of initiators, involves distilling off some of the solvent after 90-99 wt% conversion of the NVL and then continuing the polymerisation.
Abstract:
In the production of vinyl-lactam copolymers by free radical polymerization of water-soluble N-vinyl-lactam(s) and hydrophobic comonomer(s) in an organic solvent in the presence of an initiator under reflux conditions, the initiator is introduced into the polymerization mixture from below.
Abstract:
The use of copolymers obtained by free-radical polymerization of a mixture of i) 30 to 80% by weight of N-vinyllactam, ii) 10 to 50% by weight of vinyl acetate, and iii) 10 to 50% by weight of a polyether, with the proviso that the total of components i), ii) and iii) equals 100% by weight, as solubilizers for slightly water-soluble substances.
