Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new carbodiimide composed of a specific carbodiimide and useful as a stabilizer for the hydrolytic decomposition of a plastic composed mainly of a polyester. SOLUTION: The objective carbodiimide is based on 1,3-bis(1-methyl-1- isocyanatoethyl)benzene and contains 12-40 wt.% of ethylene oxide unit [CH2 - CH2 - O] based on the carbodiimide and the structural unit of formula I, e.g. a compound of formula II [R is NHCONHR1 or NHCOOR1 (R1 is a group derived from an isocyanate-reactive compound); (n) is 0-10]. The carbodiimide can be produced by reacting 1,3-bis(1-methyl-1-isocyanatoethyl)benzene in the presence of a catalyst to eliminate carbon dioxide and form a carbodiimide and reacting the carbodiimide with a compound reactive with isocyanate and having the ethylene oxide unit.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid carbodiimide which has an urethane structures and/or an urea sructures, has a carbodiimide structures bonded to nonaromatic carbon atoms, and is useful as a stabilizer for polyester plastics. SOLUTION: This carbodiimide is solid at 25 deg.C and is produced by separating carbon dioxide in the presence of a catalyst from a diisocyanate having no isocyanate group bonded to an aromatic carbon atom, thus converting the diisocyanate into a carbodiimide, and reacting this isocyanate-group-containing carbodiimide with a compound having at least two isocyanate-reactive groups to form urethane structures and/or urea structures. Preferably, the diisocyanate is 1,3-bis(1-methyl-1-isocyanatoethyl)benzene. Preferable examples of the compound having at least two isocyanate-reactive groups are an organic compound having at least two hydroxyl groups, an organic compound having at least two amino groups, and an organic compound having at least one hydroxyl group and at least one amino group.

SOLUTION: A polyurethane (A) having groups imparting water dispersibility and C-C double bonds activated by carbonyl groups directly bonded thereto or a mixture (B) comprising a polyurethane (a) having groups imparting water dispersibility and freed from C-C double bonds activated by carbonyl groups directly bonded thereto, a compound (b) other than components A and B, having C-C double bonds activated by carbonyl groups directly bonded thereto and a compound (c) other than components A, B and c, having a plurality of groups selected from among thiol groups, prim. amino groups and sec. amino groups is dispersed in water to obtain an aqueous polyurethane dispersion having a solid content of 10-75wt.% and a viscosity of 10-500mPa.s (at 20 deg.C and a shear rate of 250s .
Abstract:
The invention relates to a two-step method for the production of a water-emulsifiable polyisocyanate preparation. In the first step (A), a dispersingly active reaction product is made from at least one diisocyanate and at least one polyalkene ether alcohol and in a second step (B) the reaction product is mixed with an aliphatic polyisocyanate in the presence of an allophanation catalyst. The invention also relates to a water-emulsifiable polyisocyanate preparation which can be obtained according to said method in addition to the use of said preparation in aqueous coating agents and in adhesive dispersions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to compounds with carbodiimide units and carboxyl or carboxylate groups (compounds V), which are derived from a) aliphatic or araliphatic C4 to C20 polyisocyanates (component a) b) hydroxycarboxylic acids or hydroxycarboxylic acid salts (component b), c) optionally additional compounds which bear groups and which can react with isocyanate groups in an addition reaction (component c) and d) optionally other isocyanates (component d). In the main, the carbodiimide units are derived exclusively from the isocyanate groups of component (a).
