Abstract: New alkoxylated amine cpds. (I) have the formula RR1N-CH2-CH(CH2Z)-O- (CHR4-CHR5-O)n-(CH2-CH2-O)m-H Z is -NR2R3 or -OR6. R is phenyl, opt. with 1-3 1-12C alkyl substits., alpha- or beta-naphthyl. R1 and R3 are H, 1-4C alkyl or -(CHR4-CHR5-O)n-(CH2-CH2-O)m-H. R2 is R or 12-20C alkyl(ene). R4 is Me or Et. R5 is H or Me. R6 is R or phenyl, opt. with 1-3 C6H5-CHMe substits. n is 0-10. m is 8-50. (I) are specified for use as emulsifiers, esp. in an amt. of 0.1-2.5wt.% in printing inks, which may or may not contain petrol. They have a high emulsifying effect and are useful in printing inks which are water-in-oil emulsions, ensuring good reproducibility of the pressure drop.

Abstract: Stable water-in-oil dispersions of acrylamide (co)polymers are prepd. by polymerising a water-in-oil emulsion of an acrylamide soln., opt. with other water-sol. ethylenically unsatd. monomers, in an organic hydrophobic dispersion medium, in presence of a polymerisation initiator and an emulsifier. The emulsifiers are prepd. by reacting 1 mole of 10-22C (un)satd. fatty alcohols with 0.5-1.5 (1) moles epichlorohydrin, to form glycidyl ethers; 1 mole of the glycidyl ethers is then reacted with 0.5-6 moles of a 2-6C polyalcohol with 2-6 OH gps., or a mono-ether of such an alcohol with a 10-22C fatty alcohol, in presence of an acid or a base. The dispersions are used as flocculants for clarifying aq. systems, in paper mfr., in treating residual water, as dispersants and protective colloids in drilling muds, and as auxiliaries in flood water in sec. petroleum recovery. The dispersions are stable to sedimentation, and can be highly diluted with water.

Abstract: New emulsifier mixt. contains, as co-emulsifier, >=1 monoester of glycerol with a natural 10-24C unsatd. fatty acid, oxyethylated, on av. 6-9 (6.5-8.5) times molecule. Emulsifier is a soya oil- contg. lecithin. Mixt. is partic. useful in nutrition of young animals, e.g. calves and piglets. Monoglyceride oxyethylate, (I), compensates for low emulsifying properties of lecithin. Thus, addn. of 0.2 g glycerol monooleate + 7.5 C2H4O to 1 g lecithin and 20 g fat, gave a mixt. contg. 100 vol. % emulsion after 5, 30 and 60 min. and 99 vol. % emulsion after 24 hrs. No emulsion was obtd. without (I). (I) are liquid.

Abstract: Particulate styrene polymers which contain a blowing agent and are surface-coated with from 0.05 to 1% by weight of an ester. The coating agent is a hydroxycarboxylic acid ester, or an ester of a carboxylic acid with an oxyalkylated alcohol; tristearyl citrate is a preferred ester. The styrene polymers can be used to produce foam moldings, with short mold dwell times and good welding of the foam particles.

Abstract: Prodn. of water-in-oil emulsifiers (I) comprises first reacting opt. unsatd. 10-22C fatty alcohol (or mixts.) with epichlorohydrin at mole ratio 1:0.5-1.5 to give a glycidyl ether. This is then reacted with amines of formula R1R2R3N (II) in presence of acids or bases at mole ratio 1:0.1-6. (R1 and R2 are each H or 2-4C hydroxyalkyl and R3 = 2-4C hydroxyalkyl, or -(CH2)m- -Y-(CH2)m'- nX in which case R1=R2=H. Y = O or NH; and m and m' = 2 or 3; n = 0-6 and X = NH2 or OH). Used esp. in the cosmetic industry, (I) are at least as good as the fatty alcohol monoether emulsifiers of the parent patent, can be be used for all applications and are stable towards all likely chemical influences.

Component (c) acts as solvent for (a) and (b). The fuels make it possible to use in diesel engines at least some methanol (which can be made through synthesis gas from non-oil sources. The addn. of C gives homogeneous mixts. of relatively good ignitability.

Component (c) makes the mixt. less sensitive to phase sepn. by water addn. and improves the cold stability. The ignitability is relatively good.
