Abstract: Particulate styrene polymers which contain a blowing agent and are surface-coated with from 0.05 to 1% by weight of an ester. The coating agent is a hydroxycarboxylic acid ester, or an ester of a carboxylic acid with an oxyalkylated alcohol; tristearyl citrate is a preferred ester. The styrene polymers can be used to produce foam moldings, with short mold dwell times and good welding of the foam particles.

Abstract: Thermal insulation of parts of buildings, such as roofs, ceilings and walls, involves insertion of insulating materials between frame structures. Retaining profiles (2) of soft elastic foamed material are made in strips and fastened to the frame structures (1). Panels (5) of tough foamed plastics are introduced between each pair of profiles. Adhesive strips and/or laterally protruding coating foil may be used for profile attachment to frame structures. The panels may also have a foil coating. Material is easily laid, and provides effective insulation, with no cold bridges or openings formed.
