Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high quality solid by precipitation by supplying a plurality of starting materials to a mixing chamber of a mixing apparatus comprising stirring blades through inlets formed in the circumferential wall of the chamber and discharging the resultant mixture containing the solid produced by mixing out of an outlet formed in the circumferential wall of the mixing chamber. SOLUTION: In the case of production of a solid such as carbonates, hydroxycarbonates, hydroxides to be used as precursors of catalysts or the simple substances, a plurality of starting substances are supplied to a mixing apparatus 3 through conduits 1, 2 especially in a manner that the resultant slurry comes to the center of impellers and at the same time sodium carbonate and a metal salt solution are added form side faces. Then, precipitation reaction is caused in the mixing apparatus 3 and the obtained mixture is supplied to a degassing tank 5 provided with a stirring apparatus 6 through a conduit 4. A partial flow of the product is turned back to the mixing apparatus 3 through a conduit 7 by a pump 8 and at that time, the temperature of the mixing apparatus 3 is adjusted to be at the demanded temperature by a heat exchanger 9.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinel structure which is free from a distortion, a deformation and cracks and is of a uniform quality and a high mechanical stability and further maintains its use strength and withstands a temperature change, and especially a method for manufacturing the spinel structure. SOLUTION: A composition for molding which contains a spinel powder and, together with it, an extrusion assistant, a stabilizing agent, a shrinkage reducing agent and a foaming agent or a mixture of the former or which does not contain the described components, is extruded. Next, these extrusion moldings are dried and baked to obtain the spinel extrusion moldings. The composition for molding contains an aluminum oxide or an aluminum oxide hydrate and a metallic nitrate.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance catalyst activity to catalyst volume by using a catalyst produced by precipitating and settling a solution of a particular zinc salt and an aluminum salt, separating precipitates by filtering, washing the precipitates, removing alkali metal ions and then drying and baking the precipitates to obtain mixed oxides. SOLUTION: A solution of a zinc salt and an aluminum salt having atomic ratio of Zn to Al of 3:1 to 1:3 is allowed to precipitate and settle at a pH value of 5-12 at a temperature of 20-100 deg.C by an alkali metal carbonate solution. Precipitates are separated by filtering and alkali metal ions are removed the precipitates are baked at 250-800 deg.C to obtain mixed oxides as a catalyst. The mixed oxides are dispersed in an acid solution of a copper salt and a zinc salt wherein atomic ratio of Cu to Zn is 1:5 to 20:1 and a dispersion solution is allowed to precipitate and settle at a pH value of 6-9 at a temperature of 20-100 deg.C so as to make methanol undergo steam reforming.

Abstract: The catalyst is in tablet form having a diameter of 0.8-5 mm and a height of 0.8-5 mm. Abstract: Spinel extrudates are produced using a molding composition containing aluminum oxides, aluminum oxide hydrates and metal nitrates. Spinel extrudates are produced by extruding molding composition containing spinel powder and optionally extruding auxiliary aid, stabilizer, shrinkage reducer, and/or pore former. An Independent claim is also included for a honeycomb body obtained by drying the extrudates at 10-200o C, or by freeze drying -40-0o C under a pressure of 0.05-0.8 bar and calcining at 500-900o C.
