Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high quality solid by precipitation by supplying a plurality of starting materials to a mixing chamber of a mixing apparatus comprising stirring blades through inlets formed in the circumferential wall of the chamber and discharging the resultant mixture containing the solid produced by mixing out of an outlet formed in the circumferential wall of the mixing chamber. SOLUTION: In the case of production of a solid such as carbonates, hydroxycarbonates, hydroxides to be used as precursors of catalysts or the simple substances, a plurality of starting substances are supplied to a mixing apparatus 3 through conduits 1, 2 especially in a manner that the resultant slurry comes to the center of impellers and at the same time sodium carbonate and a metal salt solution are added form side faces. Then, precipitation reaction is caused in the mixing apparatus 3 and the obtained mixture is supplied to a degassing tank 5 provided with a stirring apparatus 6 through a conduit 4. A partial flow of the product is turned back to the mixing apparatus 3 through a conduit 7 by a pump 8 and at that time, the temperature of the mixing apparatus 3 is adjusted to be at the demanded temperature by a heat exchanger 9.

Abstract: Preparation of protected aldehydes and ketones of formulae (I) and (II) comprises addition of alcohols of formula (III) to acetylenes or allenes of formulae (IV) and (V) in the gas phase at elevated temperatures in the presence of a heterogeneous, X-ray amorphic zinc or cadmium silicates. The content of zinc or cadmium, calculated as the oxide, is 1-40 wt.%. The catalyst is prepared by bringing a zinc or cadmium salt and an organic acid (which decomposes at below 400 degrees C) into contact with amorphic silica. Formation of the catalyst takes place at 50-500 degrees C in the presence of an OH-containing compound selected from water, 1-10C alkanols, 2-6C diols or triols or 1-6C carboxylic acids. Abstract: The novel feature in Cl2 prodn. by alternatingly (a) loading a catalyst with HCl at 300-420 (pref. 360-410) degrees C and then (b) regenerating the catalyst with an O2-contg. gas at 370-460 (pref. 380-420) degrees C is that the catalyst is a sintered shape made of (by wt.): (i) 2-30% oxides and/or chlorides of Cu, Fe, Ru, Ce, Bi, Ni, Co, Ga and/or Nd; (ii) 0-30% Li-, Na-, K- and/or Zn-chloride; and (iii) 98-40% ceramic-, silicate- and/or glass-carrier. This catalyst is prepd. using inorganic metal powder and/or an active component, together with a specified polymer (mixt.) and a dispersant.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method of producing catalysts, containing iron and potassium and optionally other elements, suitable for the selective dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons to give the corresponding olefinically unsaturated hydrocarbons. In a first step, a finely particulate dry or aqueous mixture of an iron compound with a potassium compound and optionally also compounds of other elements is calcined in such a way that 5 to 50 mu m diameter conglomerates, made up of smaller particles, are produced. In a second step, preferably following shaping, the mixture is calcined at 300 to 1000 DEG C, the maximum calcining temperature in the second step preferably being at least 30 DEG C lower than that in the first step. The invention also concerns the use of the catalysts produced in this way, particularly in the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene.

Abstract: The prodn. of Cl2 from gas contg. HCl in a reactor contg. a Deacon catalyst (I) at elevated temp., pref. 300-450 degrees C, is carried out in 2 stages. In a 1st stage, the gas is introduced, water and chlorine cpds. fixed to (I) are formed by reaction between (I) and HCl, when the temp. rises by 10-90 degrees C, the water is discharged and the reactor is purged with an inert gas at the end of the stage. In a 2nd stage, a gaseous oxidant is introduced, which liberates Cl2 from the Cl cpds., the Cl2 is discharged and the reactor is purged with an inert gas. Also claimed is the use of reactors, in which the zone contg. the catalyst bed is lined with acid-resistant ceramic materials, for Cl2 prodn. by this process.
