    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an amine from a ketone or an alkyl. SOLUTION: This method for producing an amine of the formula (I): R1R2CH- NR3R4 [R1 to R4 are each independently hydrogen, a straight-chain or branched 1-12C alkyl, a 3-12C cycloalkyl, a 6-10C aryl or a 7-11C aralkyl; one or more groups of R1 and R2 are each an aryl or an aralkyl in which an aromatic unit is substituted with one or more halogens] comprises carrying out catalytic and reductive amination of a carbonyl compound of the formula (II): R1-C(=O)-R2 or an alcohol of the formula (III): R1-CH(OH)-R2 with a nitrogen compound of the formula (IV) HNR3R4 [R1 to R4 are each the same as described above] in the presence of Co- and/or Ni-containing catalyst and a solid acid cocatalyst in the absence of an organic sulfur compound.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a carried catalyst used for converting a carboxylic acid or its ester into an aldehyde by a selective hydrogenation reaction, having reasonable stability, capable of being regenerated, hardly or quite not forming a by-product, having at least comparable selectivity with the corresponding non-carried catalyst. SOLUTION: This method for producing an aldehyde of formula I (R is an aliphatic, alicyclic, aromatic or aromatic aliphatic group which may be substituted, if necessary, with one or more substituents and/or if necessary, may have more heterogeneous atom) comprises selectively hydrogenating an acid of the formula: R-COOH or an ester of the acid with a 1-10C alcohol with hydrogen in the presence of a metal oxide catalyst in a gaseous phase. Therein, the hydrogenation is carried out in the presence of the carried catalyst containing a metal oxide suitable for the selective hydrogenation of the carboxylic acid or the carboxylate ester as an essential catalyst on SiC (silicon carbide) as a carrier at a temperature of 150-450 deg.C under a pressure of 0.1-150 bars.

    Abstract: A process for the production of pyrrolidones and N-alkyl-pyrrolidones (I) via reaction of ammonia or 1-20C alkylamines with psi -butyrolactone (GBL), where the GBL is obtained by reacting 2,5-dihydrofuran (optionally containing a small amount of 2,3-dihydrofuran) with water, and dehydrogenating in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst. The process comprises reacting the dihydrofuran with water, H2 and ammonia or amines in one stage, i.e. without isolating GBL, at elevated temperature in the gas or liquid phase and in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst with acid centres or a combination of a hydrogenation catalyst and a catalyst with acid centres.
