Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of obtaining high purity ammonia practically and inexpensively by the distillation of unpurified ammonia. SOLUTION: The method is performed by using a distillation apparatus composed of either a dividing wall column or a thermally combination coupled distillation column and fractionating the unpurified ammonia with a continuous operation to obtain a fraction of low boiling point components, a fraction of high boiling point components and a fraction of a purified component showing intermediate boiling point, the fraction of the low boiling point components is discharged from the top of the distillation column, the fraction of the pure component showing the intermediate boiling point is collected from a column side discharge part and the high purity ammonia is obtained by the method capable of controlling the quantity of the gases in the distillation column so that operation pressure is 2-30 bar and the F-factor does not exceed 2.0 Pa0.5.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a substance having a comparatively high melting point from being deposited in a cooler in a distillation apparatus. SOLUTION: This distillation apparatus is used for continuously separating a substance 2 (having a comparatively high melting point) from a starting material mixture which comprises the substance 2 and a low boiling point component 1 (having a low melting point and a higher boiling point than that of the substance 2). The cooler is provided at the top of a distillation column of the distillation apparatus above a discharging port of the substance 2. The temperature of a contact surface part where vapor from the distillation column is contacted with the cooler is controlled to be lower than the melting point of the substance 2. For example the substance 2 is one of various isomers of dimethylhexanediol and the component 1 is a low boiling point alcohol.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously produce an unsaturated ketone in high yield for a short time in a single reactor without using a medium-boiling material by reacting an unsaturated alcohol with an alkyl acetoacetate in the presence of an organic aluminum compound. SOLUTION: The purpose of this invention is achieved by reacting an unsaturated alcohol of formula I [R1 is a 1-4C alkyl; R2 is a (methoxy-substituted) (1-37C) aliphatic hydrocarbon group or the like] with an alkyl acetoacetate of formula II (R3 is a 1-5C alkyl) on the internal structure of a rectifier to form an acetoacetate of an unsaturated alcohol, by separating an alcohol of the formula R3-OH from the overhead flow of the rectifier, and (A) by making the resultant acetoacetate of an alcohol of formula I rearrange into an unsaturated ketone of formula III in the presence of an organic aluminum compound (pref. an aluminum trialkoxide) in the lower part of the rectifier and/or (B) by feeding carbon dioxide formed each time at the bottom of the rectifier to the overhead flow through the rectifier and by separating an unsaturated ketone of formula III from the rectifier through the bottom.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify reattachment of an existing partition wall column and assembly of a new partition wall column by detachably fitting a partition wall to the inside of the partition wall column. SOLUTION: Partition walls 3 are detachably fitted to the inside of a partition wall column. In other words, the partition walls 3 are fitted on one side of the respective packed beds 4 as a sheet of 0.1-3mm desirably about 1-2mm thickness and formed into a structural member integrated with the packed beds 4. In this case, the integrated partition wall 3 is formed longer than the packed bed 4 combined therewith in the edges of the head and the bottom by about 1-10mm and has an additional sheet strips 5 in the edge of the bottom. The sheet strip 5 has about 10-20mm width and about 0.1-2mm thickness. In the case of combining an individual packed bed 4, a roof type overlapped part is formed and thereby liquid is inhibited from infiltrating. The overlapped part is sealed sufficiently and strongly for infiltration of vapor.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable catalytic suspension reaction having high blank yield by supplying a liquid phase containing suspension of at least one kind of catalyst and, if necessary, a gas phase through a device in a reaction chamber having orifices or channels having a specified hydraulic diameter when the catalytic reaction is performed. SOLUTION: A bubble tower reaction chamber 1 equipped with orifices and channels having 0.5 to 20mm hydraulic diameter, advantageously 1 to 10mm, and more preferably 1 to 3mm is used. In this chamber, a liquid reaction component containing a suspended catalyst is introduced through a filling tube 3, while a gas reaction component is supplied through a connecting tube 4 to a mixing nozzle 5 to mix the circulated suspension liquid and then supplied to the bottom of the reaction chamber 1. After the suspension liquid with the gas is supplied through a tube 6 to a separator 7, the gas is sent to a ventilation tube 10 through a cooler 8 for the discharged gas and a pressure holding device 9. The suspension liquid is introduced from the separator 7 through a tube 11 to a pump 12, heat exchanger 13, mixing nozzle 5, and reaction chamber 1. After the reaction is completed, the liquid is discharged through a discharging tube 14.
