Abstract: The novel compounds omega -N-disubstituted aminoalkanoic acid N'-amides of the formula I, in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 are identical or different and denote branched-chain or straight-chain alkyl radicals of from 7 to 20 carbon atoms, R2 and R4 may also denote a preferably mononuclear aralkyl or aryl radical and n denotes an integer of from 3 to 5, the total number of carbon atoms in the radicals R1 to R2 and in R3 and R4 being at least 16, are added in small quantities to gasoline and effect cleaning of the carburetor and obviate the formation of deposits on the valves.

Abstract: Fuels for petrol engines, contg. small amounts of phthalic acid diamides of formula (I): In (I) R1 and R2 are alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl, and each pair contains a total of 12-36C. (I) are added in amount of 10-2000(40-300) ppm. Deposits in the carburetter and on valves, esp. when crackcase fumes are recycled to the suction side of the engine, are reduced or removed, preventing changes in fuel/air ratios.
