Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to simply obtain the subject compound useful as a precursor for a polymerization catalyst without using a toxic reactant, by reacting a specific aromatic compound with a specified substituted allyl compound and then dehydrogenating the resultant compound. SOLUTION: (A) A compound represented by formula I [A is a bridge, together with the adjacent carbon, forms an aliphatic aromatic ring which may be condensed with a 6-membered (hetero)aromatic ring or other aromatic rings] is reacted with (B) a compound represented by formula II [R is a 1-10C alkyl or a (1-4C alkyl-substituted)phenyl; X is Cl, Br or I] in the presence of (C) a Friedel-Crafts catalyst such as AlCl3 to provide a compound represented by formula III, which is then dehydrogenated to afford a compound represented by formula IV. Furthermore, the reaction is carried out by using the component C in an amount so as to provide (0.1:1) to (1.5:1), advantageously (0.2:1) to (1.0:1) molar ratio of the components C:B.

Abstract: Catalyst systems for the polymerisation of C2- to C10-alk-1-enes, containing, as active constituents, a complex compound of metals from sub-groups IV and V of the Periodic Table and an oligomeric aluminoxane compound, where first the complex compound of metals from sub-group IV and V of the Periodic Table is mixed with the oligomeric aluminoxane compound, and subsequently the resultant mixture is applied to finely divided polymer. The catalyst systems according to the invention are also particularly suitable for the gas-phase polymerisation of C2- to C10-alk-1-enes and can be isolated after their preparation.

Abstract: The preparation of indene derivatives of formula (I) comprises reacting a benzene derivative of formula (II) with an alkenyl halide of formula (III) in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst to an indan derivative of formula (IV), followed by dehydrogenation to (I). In the formulae, R = 1-10C alkyl, phenyl or 1-4C alkyl-phenyl; A = a bridging group completing a condensed 6-membered aromatic or 5- or 6-membered heteroaromatic or aliphatic ring, optionally with another condensed aromatic ring; and X = chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br) or iodine (I).

Abstract: The present invention relates to soluble catalyst systems for the polymerization of C2- to C10-alk-l-enes, containing, as active constituents, a) a metallocene complex of the general formula I (I) where R1 and R2 are branched C4- to C10-alkyl, 5- to 7-membered cycloalkyl, which may itself be substituted by C1- to C6-alkyl, or are C6- to C15-aryl or aralkyl; R3 to R6 are C1- to C8-alkyl, M is titanium, zirconium, hafnium or vanadium, Y is silicon or germanium, and X is halogen or C1- to C8-alkyl, b) and an open-chain or cyclic aluminoxane compound of the general formula II or III where R7 is C1-C4-alkyl, and m is from 5 to 30. These catalyst systems are particularly suitable for the preparation of polypropylene and copolymers of propylene with lesser amounts of other C2- to C10-alky-l-enes.
