    Abstract: The invention relates to the preparation of a titanium-containing catalyst component (1) for Ziegler catalyst systems, by reacting (1.1) in a first step (1.1.1) a preparation of (1.1.1.1) a titanium compound (I) and (1.1.1.2) a liquid alkane (II) and (1.1.2) a homogeneous solution of (1.1.2.1) a benzene hydrocarbon (III), (1.1.2.2) trichloroacetic acid (IV) and (1.1.2.3) magnesium ethylate (V) with one another, giving a suspended solid (VI), and then (1.2) in a second step isolating the solid (VI), washing it with an alkane (VII) and drying it, the resultant solid being the catalyst component (1), characterised in that (I) employed in (1.1.1) under (1.1.1.1) is a finely divided titanium compound of the formula TiCl3 . x AlCl3, where x = from 0.15 to 0.40, and (III) employed in (1.1.2) under (1.1.2.1) is toluene.

    Abstract: The invention relates to the preparation of a titanium component (1) for Ziegler-Natta catalyst systems, in which first (1.a) an intermediate is prepared from (1.a.1) titanium tetrachloride, (1.a.2) a modifier and (1.a.3) magnesium alkoxide, and then (1.b) the titanium component is prepared from (1.b.1) titanium tetrachloride, (1.b.2) the intermediate from (1.a) and optionally (1.b.3) a further modifier, characterised in that the titanium component (1) is obtained by first (1.1) preparing a first intermediate from (1.1.1) titanium tetrachloride, (1.1.2) a modifier comprising (1.1.2.1) a titanic ester and (1.1.2.2) p-phthalic anhydride and (1.1.3) magnesium alkoxide, then (1.2) a second intermediate is prepared from (1.2.1) titanium tetrachloride, (1.2.2) the intermediate from (1.1) and optionally (1.2.3) o-phthalic anhydride as further modifier, and finally (1.3) the titanium component is prepared from (1.3.1) titanium tetrachloride and (1.3.2) the intermediate from (1.2).

    Abstract: The invention relates to the homopolymerisation and copolymerisation of alpha -monoolefins by means of a Ziegler catalyst system comprising (1) a titanium catalyst component obtained by (1.1) in a first step (1.1.1) reacting a preparation of (1.1.1.1) a titanium compound (I) and (1.1.1.2) a liquid alkane (II) and (1.1.2) a homogeneous solution of (1.1.2.1) a benzene hydrocarbon (III), (1.1.2.2) trichoroacetic acid (IV) and (1.1.2.3) magnesium ethylate (V) with one another, giving a suspended solid (VI), and then (1.2) in a second step isolating the solid (VI), washing it with an alkane (VII) and drying it; the solid obtained here is the catalyst component (1) and (2) an aluminium catalyst component which is conventional in this context, characterised in that (1) is a titanium catalyst component obtained by employing as (I) in (1.1.1) under (1.1.1.1) a finely divided titanium compound of the formula TiCl3 . xAlCl3 , where x is 0.15 to 0.40, and, as (III) in (1.1.2) under (1.1.2.1), toluene.

    Abstract: A special process for the preparation of a titanium component for polymerization catalysts of the Ziegler-Natta type, wherein (1) in a first stage (1.1) an alcoholate of the formula Mg(OR)2, where R is lower alkyl, and (1.2) benzoyl chloride are milled together in a particular molar ratio in a vibratory ball mill under particular milling conditions, especially a relatively low temperature, in the absence of a diluent, thereafter (2) in a second stage (2.1) the material resulting from stage (1) is brought together with (2.2) titanium tetrachloride in a particular ratio, the batch is kept at an elevated temperature for some time, with constant mixing, and the resulting solid is isolated, excess titanium tetrachloride being removed, and finally (3) in a third stage (3.1) the solid resulting from stage (2) is again brought together with (3.2) titanium tetrachloride in a particular ratio, the batch is again kept at an elevated temperature for some time, with constant mixing, and the resulting solid, constituting the novel titanium component, is isolated, excess titanium tetrachloride being removed. The novel titanium component permits the preparation of alpha -monoolefin polymers in high yield and with high isotacticity.
