    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for distilling a thermolabile monomer. SOLUTION: A thermolabile monomer and formaldehyde are continuously and individually fed into a lower part of a distillation tower up to its middle part in a liquid state; the formaldehyde is vaporized by means of an evaporator in the bottom of the tower; the formaldehyde is discharged from the bottom of the tower together with components having higher boiling point than the thermolabile monomer; the formaldehyde is refilled by adding fresh formaldehyde; the thermolabile monomer is removed from a side discharging port formed at the upper third of the distillation tower; the distillation is controlled so that the monomer contains formaldehyde in an amount of less than 5 wt.%; and a product flow containing components having lower boiling points than the thermolabile monomer is removed from the top of the distillation tower.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent impurities interfering the polymerization of distilled monomers or low-boiling dissociation products contaminating distillates by continuously distilling a thermolabile monomer under a reduced pressure in a column according to a specific method. SOLUTION: When (A) a thermolabile monomer is continuously distilled under a reduced pressure in a column, the component A in the form of a vapor or a liquid is initially fed to the column and (B) an inert distillation aid forming a heteroazeotrope with the component A is introduced into an evaporator at the bottom but separately from the monomer feed and evaporated in the evaporator. Otherwise, an emulsion comprising the components A and B is fed into the evaporator or the column. The azeotrope is then condensed at the top of the column and the resultant mixture is separated in a phase separator to remove the component A. The component B is returned to the column or, as desired, worked up thereafter. The component having a higher boiling point than that of the component A is removed from the bottom of the column.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly heat by forming a molding member used as a filling element in a chemical device from at least two closing frames and crosspieces for bonding the frames and disposing the frames within a plurality of planes parallel to an axial line passing through the central point of the frames at a distance from each other. SOLUTION: A molding member 1 is provided with four rings 2 disposed within an upper plane and four eccentric rings 3 having elliptical transverse sections and disposed within a lower plane. Also four crosspieces 4 for bonding all rings (frames) 2 and 3 respectively within two planes and totally four crosspieces 5 for bonding three outer rings 2 and 3 respectively within two planes are provided. In the case that the molding member thus formed is used as a filling element in a chemical device (reactor), the temperature difference between a central section of the reactor and the vicinity of adjoining reactor walls in the exothermic reaction and the endothermic reaction can be eliminated to effectively carry out the reaction.
