    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium having stability to he degradation in the chemical quality without deteriorating its magnetic characteristics by forming magnetic layers having a prescribed softening point and incorporating perfluoroacrylate of a prescribed weight of the weight of chromium dioxide into these layers. CONSTITUTION: This magnetic recording medium is formed of a nonmagnetic substrate and at least one layer of the magnetic layers which are applied on this substrate, are formed of a magnetic material well dispersed into a polymer binder and known additives and contain at least 30wt.% ferromagnetic chromium dioxide. The magnetic layers contain the perfluoroacrylate having the softening point of >=110 deg.C at 0.1 to 8wt.% of the weight of the chromium dioxide. The magnetic layers preferably contain the perfluoroacrylate having the softening point of >=120 deg.C at 0.4 to 4wt.% of the weight of the chromium dioxide. As a result, the magnetic recording medium mainly contg. the chromium dioxide which does not deteriorate the magnetic characteristics, has the improved stability to the degradation in the chemical quality and does not impair the mechanical characteristics in spite of a temp. changing at a high temp. is obtd.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To enhance wear resistance and residual magnetic induction at and under a high temp. and high humidity and to obtain a defectless layer surface and a narrow magnetic field intensity distribution by using OH group-contg. polyurea urethane and polyurethane urea (meth)acrylate as a binder compsn. in a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION: The polyurethane urea (meth)acrylate consists of poly (meth) acrylate having terminal OH groups up to two pieces per mol and a mol.wt. of 200 to 50000, 0.1 to 10wt.% diisocyanate, 30 to 80wt.% triisicyanate, 20 to 60wt.% isocyanate exhibiting functional 4 to 10. The polyurea (meth)acrylate is brought into reaction with an aliphat. polyisocyanate mixture having average functionality of NCO groups of 3 to 6 pieces per mol. The NCO groups of 2 to 3 pieces per piece of the OH group react and the residual NCO groups are converted to a substd. terminal urea group having multifunctional amine or plural kinds of the multifunctional amine mixture varying from each other.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic recording medium low in surface roughness, excellent in wear resistance of layer surface, having magnetic layer stability at a high temp. of 85 deg.C and high humidity condition and capable of preventing the lowering of output level and the block of a tape in an extreme operating condition. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording medium is obtained by preparing dispersion, in which an anisotropic magnetic material, and usual additives are dispersed in a polymer binder solution in an organic solvent, applying on a non- magnetic base body to film form, orienting by placing the anisotropic magnetic material in magnetic field and hardening the formed magnetic layer. And 0.3-5wt.% finely pulverized polysilicic acid made hydrophobic by a chemically bonded carbon is allowed to exist in the magnetic layer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To suppress the wear of a head by forming a magnetic layer contg. a fine powdery org. hydrophobic pigment insoluble in a solvent used and having >90 deg.C m.p. by 0.1-8wt.% of the amt. of a magnetic material. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic dispersion liq. contg. a fine powdery org. hydrophobic pigment, PE or PP having a mol.wt. of 500-7,000 as a binder and an anisotropic magnetic material in an org. solvent is prepd. The pigment is insoluble in the solvent and has >=90 deg.C m.p. and a fine powdery spherical pigment having 90 deg.C m.p. is advantageously used. The pigment is contained by 0.1-8wt.% of the amt. of the magnetic material. A nonmagnetic substrate is coated with the dispersion liq., the anistropic magnetic material is oriented in a magnetic field and the resultant magnetic layer is solidified. The objective medium producing no harmful effect on mechanical properties is obtd. without deteriorating magnetic properties.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium which exhibits lower head wear, less water absorption and improved scratching flaw resistance even at and under a high temp., fluctuating temp. load and atm. humidity and improved use characteristics, such as lessened oscillation, at the time of tape travel and is not damaged and degraded in its magnetic properties. CONSTITUTION: The dispersion of an anisotropic magnetic material and ordinary additives is prepd, in the polymer binder soln. in an org. solvent. This dispersion is applied in a laminar form on a substrate with which the magnetization is infeasible. Further, the anisotropic magnetic material is oriented in a magnetic field and the applied magnetic layer is solidified, by which the magnetic layer is obtd. The magnetic layer formed in such a manner includes org. hydrophobic supporting pigments of fine powder and highly viscous polysiloxane.
