Abstract: An apparatus for producing magnetic field gradients includes (a) a first planar electromagnet coil set configured to produce a first magnetic field gradient with respect to a first axis, (b) a second planar electromagnet coil set configured to produce a second magnetic field gradient with respect to a second axis that is orthogonal to the first axis, (c) a third planar electromagnet coil set configured to produce a third magnetic field gradient with respect to a third axis that is orthogonal to the first and second axes, and (d) a controller configured to selectively provide power to the first, second, and/or third electromagnet coil sets to sequentially produce a localization magnetic field gradient with respect to each of the first, second, and third axes, at least a portion of each localization magnetic field gradient having a monotonically-varying magnetic field magnitude along a respective axis.

Abstract: Certain aspects pertain to a cross-amplitude modulation (xAM) ultrasound transducer system that include one or more transducers, and first and second subapertures of transducer elements of the one or more transducers. The first subaperture configured to transmit a first ultrasound plane wave when excited. The second subaperture configured to transmit a second ultrasound plane wave when excited. The second ultrasound plane wave is noncollinear to the first ultrasound plane wave and axisymmetric to the first ultrasound plane wave about a bisector. The first and second subapertures are configured to transmit an xAM ultrasound pulse sequence by transmitting the first ultrasound plane wave, transmitting the second ultrasound plane wave, and simultaneously transmitting both first and second ultrasound plane waves. The first and second ultrasound plane wave are configured to generate an acoustic pressure that is above a threshold along the bisector.

Abstract: A method for in-vivo monitoring of a target internal volume of a mammal that includes: (a) placing the target internal volume proximal to a three-dimensional magnetic field generator; (b) generating first, second, and third magnetic field gradients along respective first, second, and third axes that are mutually orthogonal; (c) measuring first, second, and third magnetic fields with a three-dimensional magnetic sensor disposed in an ingestible capsule, the ingestible capsule disposed in the target internal volume; (d) with a controller in electrical communication with the three-dimensional magnetic sensor, generating a magnetic sensor output signal that encodes a measurement of the first, second, and third magnetic fields; (e) broadcasting the magnetic sensor output signal from an antenna disposed in the ingestible capsule, and (f) receiving the magnetic sensor output signal with a receiver. The received magnetic field data can be used to determine the three-dimensional position of the ingestible capsule.

Abstract: Disclosed herein include methods, compositions, and kits suitable for use in the spatial and temporal delivery of payload molecules to a target site of a subject. Disclosed herein include hydrogel compositions (e.g., particles) comprising a polymer scaffold, a plurality of payload molecules, and a plurality of gas vesicles. The method can comprise administering said hydrogel compositions to a subject and applying one or more ultrasonic (US) pulses to a target site of the subject to induce the release of payload molecules from the hydrogel composition, thereby delivering payload molecules to the target site. The method can comprise detecting the presence of the hydrogel composition at the target site prior to inducing release of payload molecules from the hydrogel composition.

Abstract: Disclosed herein include methods, compositions, and kits suitable for use in spatiotemporal regulation of therapeutic T-cells through a combination of molecular and physical actuation. There are provided, in some embodiments, thermal bioswitches that allow T- cells to sense small changes in temperature and use them as inputs for the actuation of genetic circuits. Also disclosed herein are T cell activity sensors. Genetic circuits capable of inducing expression of a payload upon thermal stimulation and/or immune cell stimulation are provided. There are provided, in some embodiments, thermally actuated immune cells and methods of using are provided. Oscillator circuits and methods of preventing T cell exhaustion are also disclosed.

Abstract: The application of a step function increase in acoustic pressure during ultrasound imaging using gas vesicle contrast, along with capturing successive frames of ultrasound imaging and extracting time-series vectors for pixels of the frames, allows for improved imaging down to even the cell level. Template vectors can be used to implement signal separation of the time-series vectors to improve detection.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for decoding movement intentions using functional ultrasound (fUS) imaging of the brain. In one example, decoding movement intentions include determining a memory phase of a cognitive state of the brain, the memory phase between a gaze fixation phase and movement execution phase, and determining one or more movement intentions including one or more of intended effector (e.g., hand, eye) and intended direction (e.g., right, left) according to a machine learning algorithm trained to classify one or more movement intentions simultaneously.
