    Abstract: 1-Phenyl-3-azabicyclo[3.1.1]-heptane-2,4-diones of the formula (I) in which R1 represents hydrogen or a saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, cycloaliphatic-aliphatic, aromatic or aromatic-aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having up to and including 18, preferably up to and including 12, carbon atoms, R2 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, sulpho or acyl, R3 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl and R4 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, phenyl or phenyl substituted by -N(R2)(R3), and salts of these compounds, have valuable pharmacological properties, are effective as aromatase inhibitors and can therefore be used for the treatment of hormone-dependent diseases, especially mammary carcinoma.

    Abstract: Cyclobutanecarboxylic acid imides of the formula I (I) wherein one of R1 and R6 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, and the other is methyl or ethyl, R2 and R3 independently of one another are each hydrogen, fluorine or methyl, or R2 is acetoxy or chlorine whilst R3 is hydrogen, and wherein R4 is hydrogen, methyl or chlorine, and R5 is hydrogen or methyl, whereby R3 and R4 together can also form an additional bond in the four-membered ring, are suitable for combating various fungi and have a particularly excellent action against Botrytis. They can be produced in an especially advantageous manner by photochemical ¢2+2! cycloaddition of alkenes or alkines with for example appropriately substituted maleic acid-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)-amides.

    Abstract: A novel process for producing 2,3,5-trichloropyridine is described. The process comprises the addition reaction of trichloroacetaldehyde with acrylonitrile in the presence of a catalyst, and the subsequent cyclization of the intermediately formed 2,4,4-trichloro-4-formylbutyronitrile, with the splitting-off of water, to give 2,3,5-trichloropyridine. 2,4,4-Trichloro-4-formylbutyronitrile occurring as an intermediate product in the process according to the invention is a novel compound. It can be produced by the addition reaction of trichloroacetaldehyde with acrylonitrile in the presence of a catalyst. 2,3,5-Trichloropyridine can be used as intermediate for the production of herbicidal active substances.
