Abstract: New electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding pigments based on silver coated carrier pigments are disclosed which have a wider activity spectrum and are more economically available than previously known shielding pigments. The carrier pigments used are platelet shaped, ferro- or ferrimagnetic, Fe-containing, naturally occurring or synthetically produced laminar minerals. The Ag coating amounts to 5 to 25% by weight, based on the carrier pigment. Shielding pigments, which may be prepared by conventional chemical deposition of Ag or by sputtering, may be used for the production of EMI protective coatings and EMI protective films.

Abstract: The invention provides new electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding pigments based on silver coated carrier pigments which have a wider activity spectrum and are more economically available than previously known shielding pigments. Abstract: The invention relates to purple pigments based on glass frits having an average particle diameter (D50 value) of 0.5 to 50 mu m, whose surface has a coating of essentially 0.05 to 5% by weight, relative to the pigment, of colloidal gold and, if desired, shade-modifying metals from the series consisting of Ag, Cu, Co, Ni, Sn, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir and Pt in a total weight below that of the gold. … The new purple pigments can be simply prepared and do not require the calcination step necessary hitherto. The pigments are distinguished by their homogeneity. They can be used for the pigmentation of glazes, enamels, glass stains, decorative colours, plastics, printing inks and finishes.

Abstract: There are described luminescent materials based on zinc silicate activated with manganese which are not sensitive to impurities are not susceptible to pulverizing, are temperature stable, and are stable to the customary ceramic glazes. Abstract: There are described luminescent glasses having the following compositions (a) 0 to 80 mole % alkali metal oxide (sodium oxide, potassium oxide, lithium oxide), individually or several together, 0 to 30 mole % alkaline earth metal oxide (magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, strontium oxide, barium oxide), individually or several together, and at least 2 mole % of alkali metal oxide and/or alkaline earth metal oxide must be present (b) 7 to 90 mole % silica 1 to 50 mole % boron oxide (B2O3) 1 to 30 mole % aluminum oxide (c) 0.1 to 5 mole % lead oxide (PbO) 0.1 to 10 mole % vandium pentoxide (V2O5). The glasses have white, yellow, or blue luminescence, depending on the PbO and V2O5 content, at excitation with a wave length of 254 nm.
