Abstract: Procedimiento de fabricación de una superficie de una lente oftálmica, según una prescripción dada, que comprende las etapas siguientes: a) mecanizado de la mencionada superficie por rebaje de material desplazando una herramienta de corte según una trayectoria continua en una capa exterior de superficie a conseguir, para formar surcos, estando dos surcos adyacentes espaciados por un paso constante comprendido entre 0,01 y 3 mm con el fin de obtener una superficie que presente una rugosidad media aritmética Ra comprendida entre aproximadamente 0,1 y 0,7 µm, y b) alisado de la superficie mecanizada desplazando una herramienta de alisado según una trayectoria continua formada por recorridos en una capa exterior de superficie a conseguir, estando dos recorridos adyacentes espaciados por un paso constante comprendido entre 0,2 y 3 mm, para realizar un filtrado pasa-banda de las ondulaciones de esta superficie entre una frecuencia baja correspondiente a la indicada capa exterior de superficie y una frecuencia alta correspondiente a una rugosidad de fondo, con el fin de obtener una superficie alisada que presente una rugosidad media aritmética Ra inferior a 0,1 µm.

The process includes a step a) of machining the surface by removing material by moving a cutting tool along a continuous trajectory to form grooves, two adjacent grooves being spaced by a constant pitch from 0.01 mm to 3 mm, and a step b) of smoothing the machined surface by moving a smoothing tool along a continuous trajectory formed of passes, two adjacent passes being spaced by a constant pitch from 0.2 mm to 3 mm, to effect band-pass filtering of the undulations of the surface between a low frequency corresponding to a surface envelope and a high frequency corresponding to a background roughness.

Abstract: A tool for polishing an optical surface of a lens includes a rigid support including a support surface, a first layer called the buffer made from an elastic material and covering at least part of the support surface, and a second layer called the polisher and covering at least part of the buffer. The buffer has a first surface adhering to the support surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The polisher has a first surface adhering to the second surface of the buffer and a second surface called the polishing surface opposite the first surface and adapted to polish the optical surface of the lens by rubbing against it. The polishing surface is a toric surface and, to be able to polish an atoric optical surface, the buffer is adapted to be compressed elastically and the polisher is adapted to be deformed to espouse the atoric surface. Applications include polishing atoric optical surfaces.

Abstract: Two stage manufacturing process for prescribed ophthalmic lenses comprises a first cutting tool trajectory followed by a milling tool whose trajectories are controlled by a numerical control unit. Manufacturing process of a prescribed ophthalmic lens surface, comprising the following stages: (a) machining of the surface by moving a cutting tool in a continuous surface envelope trajectory, to form furrows, where two adjacent furrows are consistently 0,01 and 3 mm apart, in order to obtain a surface with mean arithmetic roughness Ra = 0.1 to 0.7 mu m; and (b) smoothing the machined surface using a smoothing tool in a continuous surface envelope trajectory to produce two adjacent streams 0.2 to 3 mm apart, in order to filter the surface envelope undulation between a low frequency corresponding to the envelope and a high frequency corresponding to a basic roughness. This provides a smoothed surface having a mean arithmetic roughness Ra lower than 0,1 mu m. Independent claims are also included for: (i) a digitally controlled machine (Figure 6) comprising a lens support (40) capable of translation and rotation on a vertical axis and a milling tool (10) capable of translation on a horizontal axis, inclinable with reference to a vertical axis and able to rotate on a vertical axis, the translatory (Z) and rotation (R1)) movement of the support (40 )and the translation movements (X) and tilt (B) of the tool being controlled simultaneously by the numerical control unit, the rotation(R2) of the milling tool is also controlled by the control unit; (ii) equipment to provide the surface finish comprising (see Fig 9) a support 1001 in which the lens can be place and rotated and an arm (1003) carrying a nozzle (1002) which provides resin at a low pressure and can be moved vertically and horizontally with respect to the support (1001).
