Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new binder for coatings, comprising the mixture of (A) an epoxy resin modified with a polyester with (B) an acid group-containing polyester. SOLUTION: This elastic self-curable binder can be obtained by mixing (A) an epoxy resin modified with a polyester with (B) an acid group-containing polyester. Therein, the epoxy resin A is produced by two steps comprising (1) synthesizing (A1) a free acid group-containing polyester from (A11) a polybasic carboxylic acid selected from (A111) an aliphatic polycarboxylic acid and (A112) an aromatic polycarboxylic acid and (A12) a polyol, and (2) reacting the polyester A1 with (A2) an epoxy resin. The amount of the epoxy groups in the component A2 is larger than that of the carboxyl groups in the component A1. The polyester B is obtained by the polycondensation reaction of the aliphatic polyol A12 with the polybasic carboxylic acid A11 selected from the aliphatic polycarboxylic acid A111 and the aromatic polycarboxylic acid A112 similarly in the case of the polyester A1.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-dispersing hardener for an epoxy resin, manifesting a good emulsifying activities with the liquid epoxy resin, excellent in compatibility with a solid resin disperse substance and obviously increasing the viscosity at the end of the processing time when the hardener is combined with the epoxy resin. SOLUTION: This curing agent is obtained by reacting (A) a mixture of two or more aliphatic polyols having 200-20,000g/mol weight average molecular weight MW of the mixture and including at least one kind of the polyols having >=4,000g/mol weight average molecular weight MW with (B) at least one kind of epoxy compound having at least two epoxy groups in a molecule and 500-10,000mmol/kg specific content of the epoxy group (100-2,000g/mol epoxy equivalent) at the first reaction stage to provide epoxide-polyol adduct, and further reacting the epoxy-polyol adduct with (C) polyamines having at least three aminic hydrogen atoms and at least one primary amino group per molecule.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid problems, such as formation of a blushed or spotted surface and insufficient crosslinking, encountered during coating especially at a low temperature and high humidity by using a specified curing agent component as the curing agent for an epoxy resin. SOLUTION: This invention provides an amino-containing curing agent component for an epoxy resin, wherein the amino-containing curing component is a condensate of a di- or poly-hydroxy aromatic compound (A) with a polyamine (B). This component should have a ratio of component A to component B of 10.0:1.0(mol/mol) to 1.0:10.0(mol/mol). Component A is exemplified by 2,2'- or 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl or 2,2'- and 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl ether. Component B is exemplified by 1,2-diaminoethane or 1,2-diaminopropane.
