    Abstract: The present invention relates to salts of alkenylsuccinic acid alkoxyalkyl monoamides of the formula Ia and/or Ib if desired mixed with salts of alkenylsuccinic acid monoester amines of the formula IIa and/or IIb an/or alkenylsuccinimides of the formula III where R , R , A, R , R , n, m and M have the meaning mentioned in the description. The invention likewise relates to a process for the preparation of salts of alkenylsuccinic acid alkoxyalkyl monoamides of the formula Ia and/or Ib, if desired mixed with salts of alkenylsuccinic acid monoester amines of the formula IIa, IIb and/or alkenylsuccinimides of the formula III, which is characterised in that alkenylsuccinic anhydrides are reacted with alkoxyalkylamines of the formula IV H2N-(CH2)n-O-(A)m-R IV where R , n, m and A have the meaning mentioned in the description, and this reaction is carried out in the presence of an amount of base equimolar to the alkoxyalkylamines of the formula IV or following the reaction an amount of base equimolar to the alkoxyalkylamines of the formula IV is added. The invention further relates to water- and/or oil-containing formulations for the working of metals, which contain the abovementioned salts of alkenylsuccinic acid alkoxyalkyl monoamides of the formula Ia and/or Ib, if desired mixed with salts of alkenylsuccinic acid monoester amines of the formula IIa and/or IIb and/or alkenylsuccinimides of the formula III, and to their use as anticorrosion agents, cooling lubricants and metalworking aids.

In the formulas, R' is 2-18C alkenyl, preferably 9-18C alkenyl; R is 4-30C alkyl, preferably 8-18C alkyl; X is an ammonium salt of H -NR R R (R , R , R are independently H, 1-20C alkyl or 2-20C alkenyl, preferably 8-18C alkenyl. The emulsion is suitable for the production of emulsion or a safety explosives.

    Abstract: The novel process is based on the reaction of a dialkylamine, preferably dimethylamine or diethylamine, with a monohalopropanediol, preferably monochloropropanediol, in the presence of water. The reaction is carried out in the presence of 25 to 70% by weight of water and at a temperature of from 20 to 80 DEG C, the dialkylamine being employed in an amount of at least 2.5 mol per mol of monohalopropanediol. The novel process allows a high space-time-yield and also a high chemical yield of virtually pure dialkylaminopropanediol to be obtained.
