Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems associated with prior surface light source apparatus, that when a light guide plate is provided with a prism to achieve slimming sown and cost reduction, irregular light is generated to decrease its performance. SOLUTION: The surface light source apparatus 10 includes a lamp 18 and a light guide plate 22. A light emission face 26 or its opposed face 28 of the light guide plate 22 has plural convex and concave parts which extend in the direction facing a light incident face 25 and spread over the light guide plate 22. The convex and concave parts have flat faces 32 on the bottoms of the concave parts or on the tops of the convex parts. In this configuration, the surface, light source apparatus 10 can transmit light in the axis direction of the light 18 and the problem associated with prior prism cut light guide plate such as low light at both end parts can be solved.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit having a high front luminance, which can suppress the occurrence of luminance irregularities. SOLUTION: The backlight unit has a light guide plate 20 and a reflection sheet 206 on the rear face of the light guide plate. The rear face of the light guide plate has a plurality of recessed patterns, which reflect and transmit light. The reflection sheet is a silver reflection sheet and plural posts as spacers are formed on the reflection sheet. Even when the reflection sheet is depressed, the spacers maintain a certain clearance between the rear face of the light guide plate and the reflection sheet. By maintaining the clearance, the occurrence of luminance irregularities on the surface of the backlight unit can be suppressed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the device and method capable of effectively performing processing on pixel areas of a display device. SOLUTION: On each pixel area 41 on a liquid crystal TFT array substrate, an ITO transparent electrode 43, a gate line 48, a data line 46, a TFT active element 45, an identification mark 50, etc., are formed. The identification mark 50 is provided on the gate line 48 by forming a silver bar code. Since the identification mark is provided in the pixel area, it is possible to surely identify the transistor to be repaired, by detecting the identification mark, for instance, in repair processing of a TFT array substrate. Moreover, in an information processor for inputting graphics and characters onto a screen by using a laser pen, it is possible to accurately specify a locus of the pen by specifying a position of the pixel area from the identification mark detected by the pen, and to recognize inputted graphics, etc., in details.
