PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charge control method which can perform efficient charge in the case where the charge is stopped halfway, and a computer where that charge control method is applied. SOLUTION: The charge of the main battery is started, and at the point of time when the capacity of the main battery reaches a specified value, the charge of the main battery is stopped (steps 200-204). Then, the charge of the second battery is started, and at the point of time when the capacity of the second battery reaches a specified value, the charge of the second battery is stopped (steps 206-210). Then, the charge of the main battery is restarted, and at the point of time when the capacity of the main battery becomes 100%, the charge of the main battery is stopped, and then the charge of the second battery is restarted, and at the point of time when the capacity of the second battery becomes 100%, the charge of the second battery is stopped (steps 212-222).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To guide a user in refreshment of a battery with proper timing, when a battery for supplying the system body with power by discharging electricity after being charged. SOLUTION: This system is equipped with a CPU which executes the diagnosis program of an intelligent battery 52, an embedded controller 41 which receives an identifier from the intelligent battery 52 and outputs it to the CPU, an information file which stores the date information of refreshment in a plurality of batteries, and an AC adaptor power stoppage circuit 80 which performs the supply and stoppage of the power to the system body from an AC adaptor 51 by the control from the embedded controller 41. The CPU acquires from the information file the date information corresponding to the identifier outputted from the embedded controller 41, and judges the necessity of the refreshment and stops the supply of power from the AC adaptor 51 to the system body by controlling the AC adaptor power stoppage circuit 80, based on the refreshment command from the CPU.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user easily and quickly to know the function and the operating method of a specific operating means about a help displaying method which displays the functions and operating methods of operating means provided with in electronics on a display screen. SOLUTION: How often a user attempts to operate a specific operating means (center button) among operating means is counted all the time. Then, when the number of operating times of the specific operating means (center button) reaches the number of set times before the user operates another operating means, a help panel explaining the function and operating method of the specific operating means (center button) is displayed.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly guide a user who is using an electrical appliance to effectively use the result of a battery diagnosis or the like. SOLUTION: This system is provided with: a notebook-sized PC (notebook- sized personal computer) 10 connected to a network 20 and equipped with a battery for supplying power to the main body by performing battery charging/ discharging; and a management server 30 connected to the network 20 for diagnosing the battery of the notebook-sized PC 10. This notebook-sized PC 10 accesses a Web page provided by the management server 30 through the network 20 by using a browser, designates a URL in an HTML document transmitted from the management server 30, and transmits the information file of the battery to the management server 30. Then, the management server 30 reads the information file, analyzes the information of the battery, determines whether a security period has expired, and transmits the analysis result to the notebook-sized PC 10. Abstract:
A system and method for collaborative handwriting input. An input hand-held computer (20) captures, stores and redisplays ink information from a user an d transfers the ink information to a recognition computer (10) via a communication connection, which then recognizes it and outputs recognition result. A method is also employed in such a system for collaborative handwriting input. And in an embodiment, the system can comprise a recogniti on computer and a plurality of input hand-held computers.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily detect the degree of deterioration of a battery in an apparatus which is equipped with a battery for supplying power by charge and discharge. SOLUTION: This is a computer device which performs power supply to the system body from a mounted intelligent battery 52 for performing charge and discharge, and this intelligent battery 52 is equipped with a voltage measuring circuit 70 which measures its own battery voltage, a current measuring circuit 63 which measures its own charge and discharge currents, a temperature measuring circuit 90 which measures its own temperature, and a CPU 62 which periodically reads in the battery voltage measured by the voltage measuring circuit 70, the charge and discharge currents measured by the current measuring circuit 63, and the temperature measured by the temperature measuring circuit 90. The system body is equipped with an embedded controller 41 which receives the information about the deterioration of capacity from the CPU 62 of the battery.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten charging time according to need, in a computer device using a battery which allows charging and discharging. SOLUTION: The computer device comprises an intelligent battery 52 to supply power to a system body by discharging after charging, an AC adapter 51 to supply charging power to the intelligent battery 52 from an external power source and to supply power to the system body, and a utility program to offer an interface with which charging content to the intelligent battery 52 can be designated by a user; and increases charging power to the intelligent battery 52, by lowering consumption power to the system body from the AC adapter 52, by slowing operation speed of CPU 11 with a CPU operating mode control logic 65, based on the charging content designated by the user via the interface.
