    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To release a multiservice communication system and a multiservice communicating method which can integrate the conventional PSTN function and a voice-over-IP/voice-over-data(VOIP/VOD) function within the same communication system. SOLUTION: Script generally interacts with a PSTN call and an IP call in the context of the same service through the extension of a scripting function that supports the above functions, the same service logic is shared about both a PSTN medium and an IP medium, a conference of the participants of both the PSTN and the IP is held, information is stored and transferred between the two media, an on-hold media is reproduced in an interface, and the information can simultaneously be monitored between two media. The disclosed system generally follows the integration of the PSTN network and the IP network and can also integrate other service functions without loosing universalness.

SOLUTION: In an advanced intelligent network(AIN) telephone system which includes at least one central station exchange system, a telephone caller authentication method is used for allowing update of user services. A high performance peripheral subsystem 105 is connected to the central station exchange system through a calling connection channel, and the high performance peripheral subsystem 105 includes a means for providing at least a subsidiary calling processing capability through the calling connection channel. The high performance peripheral subsystem 105 includes a step for providing a user prompt, a step for authenticating an utterance response of the user, a step for providing a menu of usable AIN services options, and a step for responding to a user selection by calling out the services options selected by the user.

    Abstract: An approach for regional firewall clustering for optimal state-sharing of different sites in a virtualized/networked (e.g.,cloud) computing environment is provided. In a typical embodiment, each firewall in a given region is informed of its peer firewalls via a registration process with a centralized server. Each firewall opens up an Internet protocol (IP)-based communication channel to each of its peers in the region to share state table information. This allows for asymmetrical firewall flows through the network and allows routing protocols to ascertain the best path to a given destination without having to take firewall placement into consideration.

    Abstract: A demodulator mechanism which uses estimates of the in-phase and quadrature-phase components or differential phase modulated carrier signals for performing a coherent demodulation of these signals is described. The instantaneous estimates, obtained from an estimator circuit, are fed into a differential carrier recovery circuit, which provides for a feedback of ideal sine and cosine components, and combined with the instantaneous estimates for incrementally decreasing a phase error signal generated in a computational circuit. By thus incrementally decreasing the phase error signal, an ideal phase angle is eventually obtained, thereby providing for coherent demodulated output components of the input carrier signals.
