Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a structure for fixing a load beam stably to a carriage. SOLUTION: When a load beam 14 is fixed to a carriage 40, the carriage 40 is fixed to a fixing plate 32 by swaging and the fixing plate 32 is fixed to the load beam 14 by welding so that the load beam 14 does not come into direct contact with a swaged part and the deformation of swaged part does not have direct effect on the load beam 14. Furthermore, stability is enhanced in the fixing of load beam by a structure wherein the carriage 40 is surrounded by the load beam 14 on the fixing plate 32 side, i.e., the load beam 14 extends from the opposite sides of longitudinal center of load beam toward the carriage 40 side.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To attempt to stabilize swaging in the case of mounting the suspension of a disk memory. CONSTITUTION: To mount a suspension 10 mounted with a signal converting head at an actuator 9, the opposite end of the head mounting end of the suspension 10 is, for example, fixedly connected to a mounting plate 10b. The inner diameter of the boss for swaging of the plate 10b is different at the upper and lower opposite surfaces of an actuator arm. Only the mounting plate of a boss having a large inner diameter is set, first swaging is executed, the mounting plate having a small inner diameter is set, and second swaging is conducted from the different direction. The suspensions mounted at both upper and lower surfaces of the arm are swaged in two directions, and the boss caulked by the initial swaging is not deformed by the swaging, and hence the stable swaging can be executed.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To make a low-profile solution of a disk storage device and to facilitate the production. CONSTITUTION: In order to install a signal conversion head on an actuator 9 positioning the head at a desired position on a recording surface on a disk via a suspension 10, a slider 8, to which the signal conversion head is fitted, is fitted to one end of the suspension 10, and a means to be mounted on the actuator 9 is provided on the same side as the signal conversion head on the other end of the suspension 10 is fitted. A low-profile solution of a disk storage device is achieved without sacrificing the strength of a fitting part of the suspension. Further, plural, suspensions can be installed on a actuator at a time.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify wiring processings and to enhance workability by making extension plates bendable in a direction vertical to the flat surfaces of arms and arranging plural arms bedable around two axes of the flate planes of the arms, plural first connection pads to be provided on respective extension plates and plural second connection pads to be provided on the flat surface of a circuit board. SOLUTION: A voice coil motor 12 is attached to an arm assembly 10 and head/slider assemblies 13 are moved in the radial direction by the voice coil motor 12 by connecting respective rear ends of arms 11 to an axis 14 while pivotally attaching them to the frame of a disk driving device. Moving amounts of second connection pads being on a circuit board 23 with respect to extension plates 19 are small and positions of the pads are correctly formed and at the time the extension plates 19 are rotatingly moved around three axes orthogonal with each other, the pads are not fluctuated and the extension plates 19 can be bent in the direction vertical to flat surfaces of the arms 11 and the arms 11 can be moved around two axes of the flat surfaces.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laminated actuator arm assembly having the structure to easily fix the lead wires between a coil and flexible cables. SOLUTION: The laminated actuator arm assembly to be used for a magnetic disk memory device has small holes 64 penetrating the lead wires 62, 63 into the coil supporting parts 55 of spacers 54. Since the spacers 54 are manufactured by blanking of flat plates, the free formation of the structure holding the lead wires like in casting mold formation is not possible but the formation of the small holes by this invention is easy. If the lead wires after passed through the small holes are treated in a subsequent production stag, the peeling of the wires by the exertion of the force at the boundaries between the wires of the coil and the lead wires does not arise. The movement of the lead wires and the contact thereof with other parts of the magnetic disk memory device during working do not arise either.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To make the device thin-structure and easy to manufacture by providing the device with a first connection means to connect the other end of an external cable through a housing wall and providing the card with a second connector to be engaged with the first connector. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic disk device 1 has a housing 2 and a card 3 which is equipped with a control purpose electronic circuit and is installed on an external bottom of the housing. The housing 2 consists of a substrate 4 and a cover 5. In the housing 2, a spin motor 6 indicated by the substrate 4, a magnetic disk, a signal conversion head, and actuator are incorporated. An electric power to these devices is supplied from an electronic card circuit 3 or to the card 3 installed on the back of the housing 2 via the two rows of pin terminals 8b and 9b planted on a substrate 4 for electrically connecting the inside and outside of the housing 2. The terminal 9b constitute a first connector 9. The terminal rows 8b and 9b are connected with the printed circuit 11 in the housing 2 via a third connector 12 fixed at one end of the circuit 11.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To unnecessitate separate independent components by insulating a disk and head from a magnet in the manner of positioning an enclosure itself of the disk, head and carriage between a coil and the magnet. CONSTITUTION: In a clean room, the disk 22, spindle motor for driving the disk 22, head 24, carriage 26, coil 32 and upper yoke 38 are respectively arranged on specified positions in a bottom case 12 after the opening part 52 of bottom case 12 is covered with a thin film sheet 54, and an upper cover 14 is fixed to the bottom case 12. After that, the magnet 36 and a lower yoke 40 are fixed to a recessed part 50 of the bottom case 12 at the outside of the clean room. Consequently, the magnet 36 is insulated from other structural elements of the disk device by the enclosure enveloping the disk 22, head 24, carriage 30 and coil 32. Thus, the separate independent components for insulating the magnet 36 from the coil 32 are unnecessitated.
