Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard disk drive which is not damaged by ESD (electrostatic discharge) even when handled by a general end user and a conductive sheet used for it. SOLUTION: This hard disk drive is constituted by storing disk constitution members in a housing 1, and the housing 1 is constituted so that it is covered with the conductive sheet 2. Thus, the housing 1 is covered with the conductive sheet 2 and ESD in any direction is absorbed by the conductive sheet and never passes through the disk constitution members placed in the housing 1.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the electrostatic discharge resistance of a device without degrading the high frequency characteristic of the device by amplifying the detection output of a magneto-resistance effect type sensor whose one end is grounded and connecting a nonlinear conductive element in between a power source voltage line supplying a power source voltage and a grounding line. SOLUTION: A varistor 30 is provided in between a power source voltage line supplying a power source voltage and a grounding line on a control substrate 20. Moreover, on the substrate 20, a capacitor 31 is provided in parrallel with the varistor 30 and, further, an inductance 32 inserted in series with the power source voltage line is provided. The varistor 30 has a capacitive component and the capacitive component, the capacitor 31 and the inductance 32 function as a low-pass filter eliminating noise being on the power source voltage line. Thus, a high frequency component being in a power source voltage to be supplied to an AE7 is reduced and they contribute to the stable operation of the AE7. Furthermore, the miniatirizing of the capacitor 31 is made possible by the capacitance of the varistor 30.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glove for the handling of a magnetic head effective for preventing the static charge accumulation and the leak of electric field and enabling the use in a clean room. SOLUTION: This glove 1 for the handling of a magnetic head has a coating layers 3, 4 made of a dissipative material and formed on the front face or front and back faces of an electrically conductive glove 2. The generation of contamination possible to be caused by the direct use of an electrically conductive glove in a clean room can be suppressed by coating an electrically conductive glove with a material usable in a clean room. The conductive glove 2 is directly grounded with a wire 5. The static charge accumulation and electric field leakage can be sufficiently prevented even by an operator liable to accumulate static charge.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate an error due to thermal asperity by detecting a read defect on a data recording surface, varying the rotating speed of a disk and making a signal transducer which has decreased in flotation quantity collide, and breaking a projection as the thermal asperity. SOLUTION: Once the signal transducer 20 equipped with an air bearing surface(ABS) 44 and a magneto-resistive(MR) element 42 detects the projection 52 as the thermal asperity of the magnetic disk 18, the rotating speed of the disk is reduced. The ABS 44 of the signal transducer 20 which has decreased in flotation quantity by the speed reduction collides against the projection 52, which is broken, thereby eliminating the read error due to the thermal asperity.
