Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device which can effectively erase data on a magnetic disk while suppressing the operation of a magnetic field on a spindle motor. SOLUTION: The top cover 14 of the disk device is provided with pole pieces 14a1 and 14a2. When this disk device is placed in an external magnetic field, a magnetic field which is local and has a steeper magnetic gradient than the external magnetic field is produced from the pole pieces 14a1 and 14a2. When the pole pieces 14a1 and 14a2 are arranged on the inner peripheral side of the magnetic disk, data on the magnetic disk can effectively be erased while the operation of the magnetic field on the spindle motor is suppressed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To hold a head at a landing area by fixing a magnetic material so as to function on an area with strong leakage magnetic flux as moving the head from the data recording area of a disk to the landing area. CONSTITUTION:The head 30 is mounted at one end of an actuator 32, and the actuator 32 is mounted at a base via a shaft 36 in such a way that it can be turned via a shaft 34. And the actuator 32 is turned with respect to the prescribed shaft 34 so as to move the head 30 from the data recording area 22 of the disk 16 to the landing area 26. According to the above action, the magnetic material 90 fixed at the actuator 32 is located at a position where it is moved to the areas 56 and 58 with strong leakage magnetic flux of a magnet. Then, the magnetic material 90 is fixed at a prescribed position on a disk 16 side between the shaft 34 of the actuator 32 and an end part on an opposite side, then, is held at the area 26.

SOLUTION: This disk driving device case 11 is provided with a case main body for housing the carriage 17 of a disk 15, and a top cover 13 for closing the opening of the case main body. In the top cover 13, a rib 30 is formed continuously around a specific area 31 in a full circumferential direction. The specific area 31 is positioned on the rotary shaft 19 of the disk 15. The rib 30 has a wide portion 30a and a narrow portion 30b. The narrow portion 30b is formed between a part corresponding to the top clamp 32 of the rotary shaft 19 and the end of the movable range 33 of a carriage 17.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To minimize the size of a printed board while increasing the degree of freedom of a spindle motor. CONSTITUTION: The connector 52 of an interface cable is disposed oppositely to a spindle motor 18 and a printed board 50 has such size as not touching the height of the spindle motor 18. Consequently, the degree of freedom is increased in the arrangement of the spindle motor 18. The distance between the connector 52 of the interface cable and the connector of a preamplifier mounted on the printed board 50 is short. This structure can minimize the size of the printed board 50.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To equalize the coupled resonance frequency of a hard disc drive at the time of loading one magnetic disc and two magnetic discs based on the parameters of a model. CONSTITUTION: Assuming the spring coefficient of a spindle motor is Kp and the mass thereof is Mp, while the spring coefficient of a magnetic disc is Kd and the mass thereof is Md, a disc drive is modeled by a coupled vibration model (A) of a linear two degree of a freedom system for a case (B) loaded with a single disc and a case (C) loaded with two discs. The spring coefficient Kp of the spindle motor, i.e., the components, are then adjusted such that the coupled resonance frequency of the spindle motor and the disc is substantially constant for the case loaded with a single disc and the case loaded with two discs. According to the arrangement, stabilized track follow can be ensured without requiring any additional disc.

At this time, at the two corner parts of the end part side of a guide groove formed on a base 12, pedestal surfaces 31A, 31B are formed on one side of the guide grooves, so that the plate-like bumpers 40A, 40B are set. In addition, on the remaining two corner parts, the plug-in bumpers 40C, 40D are set, and a label which covers one part of the plug-in bumpers may be stuck from above.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily check whether a breather filter is mounted or not after a top cover is assembled to a base. SOLUTION: Filter check holes 21a and 21b are formed within a region where the breather filter 14 is mounted in addition to an outdoor air port 20 for communicating the gas between the breather filter 14 and the outside. For example, pressurized gas is supplied from the outdoor air port 20 in a leak test to an HDD1. Unless the breather filter 14 is mounted, the gas leaks from the filter check holes 21a and 21b. Accordingly, the breather filter 14 can be detected not to be mounted by measuring the pressure in the leak test. Figure 2 is the perspective view of the top cover.

Thus, the housing 1 is covered with the conductive sheet 2 and ESD in any direction is absorbed by the conductive sheet and never passes through the disk constitution members placed in the housing 1.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the clearance between the base bottom surface and the top cover of a flexible cable assembly and an enclosure case. SOLUTION: An FPC cable assembly has an FPC cable 101, reinforcing films 102, 103, and 104, and reinforcing plates 105, 106, and 107. The reinforcing films 102 and 103 are laminated to a first mounting part 111 and a second mounting part 113 of the FPC cable 101, and the reinforcing plates 105 and 106 are laminated via the reinforcing films 102 and 103. By laminating a reinforcing film to the mounting parts 111 and 113 in advance, the deformation of the mounting parts 111 and 113 can be suppressed when laminating the reinforcing plate, thus improving the lamination accuracy of the FPC cable 101 and the reinforcing plates 105 and 106, and hence securing a clearance with the enclosure case.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic disk device whose external shape of a seal for hermetic sealing is the same as the external shape of a cover and a base provided with a level difference on a peripheral edge part. CONSTITUTION: In this hermetically sealed type magnetic disk device to which the cover and the base provided with the level difference on the peripheral edge part are connected through the seal, two inclination parts 48 and 50 are provided stepwise in a folded-back shape on respective level difference parts at the peripheral edges of the cover 60 and te base 40. A first inclination part 48 is lowered in a direction from the peripheral edge to an inner side and a second inclination part 50 connected to it is lowered in the direction from the inner side to the peripheral edge. The inclination parts of the cover and the base are provided so as to be matched respectively. The seal 70 is provided with the practically same outer shape as the cover 60 and the base 40 and is provided with a projection part 74 for covering the inclination parts.
