A sliding property improver for use in washing which comprises potassium metaphosphate; a detergent composition comprising said sliding property improver for use in washing and a solubilizing agent; a method of washing by hand which comprises carrying out under a condition wherein a concentration of potassium metaphosphate is 30 mg/L or more and a liquor-goods ratio is 2 or more; a sliding property improver granule for use in washing which comprises potassium metaphosphate; and a detergent composition comprising said sliding property improver granules for use in washing and a solubilizing agent. The above sliding property improver for use in washing and the sliding property improver granule for use in washing are suitably used also in washing clothes or the like by hand, in particular, that involving immersion for a long time.

A method for producing a sheetlike detergent which comprises preparing a doughy detergent composition having a viscosity of 1,000 mPa • s to 50,000 mPa • s at a shear rate of 10 s to 1000 s , and applying the doughy composition continuously or discontinuously on a flexible support in a long belt form being running continuously in a predetermined direction under a condition wherein a shear rate is 10 s to 1000 s by a specific application means, to thereby form a thin layer of the doughy composition.

A washing method wherein washing is performed under such conditions that the pH value of the washing water is elevated after the hardness of the washing water has been lowered; a detergent composition which contains particles capable of retarding alkaline realization of the elevation of the pH value of the washing water after the addition of the same as compared with the lowering of the hardness of the washing water; and a detergent composition containing an alkaline agent coated with an organic or inorganic material the content of which amounts to at least 70 % by weight of the alkaline agents contained in the composition. The washing method and the detergent compositions each achieves an excellent detergency even at a low surfactant concentration, since washing is performed under such conditions that the pH value of the washing water is elevated after the hardness of the washing water has been lowered.

An economical sheet-form laundering article which has excellent flexibility and employs water-soluble bases having a low basis weight and in which the contents are inhibited from flying off or being lost. The article comprises a layer comprising at least one composition selected among a detergent composition, a fiber softener composition, and a bleaching agent composition and water-soluble bases respectively bonded to both sides of the layer. It has a flexibility parameter as calculated by a specific method of 3 to 6.
