Abstract: A process for preparing a phosphoric ester having reduced odor, comprising contacting a phosphoric ester with at least one of an inert gas and steam at 100 DEG to 160 DEG C in a packed tower; a process for preparing a phosphoric ester having reduced odor, comprising repeating a set of processes comprising (A) heating a phosphoric ester, and contacting the heated phosphoric ester with at least one of an inert gas and steam; and (B) cooling the phosphoric ester obtained in the step (A); a process for preparing a phosphoric ester having reduced odor, comprising adding water to a phosphoric ester, and distilling water from the phosphoric ester under reduced pressure; and a process for preparing a phosphoric ester having reduced odor, comprising reacting an organic hydroxy compound with a phosphorylation agent, while introducing an inert gas into the mixture of the organic hydroxy compound and the phosphorylation agent. The phosphoric ester is useful for, for instance, a shampoo, a cleaning agent, a facial cleansing agent, an emulsifier, and the like.

Date Mar. 28, 1997An organic hydroxyl compound is reacted with polyphosphoric acid under such conditions that the ratio, as defined by formula (1), has a value exceeding 3.2; and phosphorus pentaoxide is added to the reaction product thus obtained in such an amount that the ratio, as defined by formula (1), has a value in the range of from 2.8 to 3.2: (1) If necessary, the obtained reaction product is deodorized by the removal of the organic hydroxyl compound unreacted therefrom. The process does not give any product of high-viscous gel and therefore enables the industrially easy manufacture of a phosphoric monoester having an extremely high purity, a lowered orthophosphoric acid content, and a good odor.

Abstract: An organic hydroxyl compound is reacted with a phosphorylating agent comprising phosphorus pentaoxide and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of water, phosphoric acid and polyphosphoric acid and having a value represented by formula (I) of from 0.5 to 1.0, under such a condition that the ratio as defined by formula (II) has a value in the range of from 2.8 to 3.2; or alternatively, an organic hydroxyl compound is reacted with the above phosphorylating agent under such a condition that the ratio as defined by formula (II) has a value in the range of from exceeding 3.2 up to 6.4 and then phosphorus pentaoxide is added to the reaction product in such an amount that the ratio as defined by formula (II) has a value in the range of from 2.8 to 3.2 with respect to the total feeds of the starting materials to conduct further reaction: The above process produces a phosphoric ester mixture that is excellent in hue and odor, is reduced in the amount of orthophosphoric acid and contains a phosphoric monoester useful as a component of a detergent.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a polysaccharide derivative manifesting excellent thickening activities at a low concentration and useful for cosmetics or the like by a simple operation, in good efficiency, high purity and high yield by reacting polysaccharides with a hydrophobicizing agent and a hydrophilizing agent under a specific condition. SOLUTION: Polysaccharides such as a cellulose and a guar gum is reacted with a hydrophobicizing agent such as a glycidyl ether having a 10-40C alkyl group or alkenyl group, and a hydrophilizing agent such as a vinyl sulfonic acid in the presence of an organic solvent such as isopropyl alcohol, water and an alkali catalyst such as sodium hydroxide after deoxygenating the vapor phase part and the liquid phase part by previously bringing the pressure of the vapor phase part of a system in which at least the organic solvent and the water are present, to =1 vol.%.
