    Abstract: A thermal cycler system for use with a sample holder configured to receive a plurality of samples includes a sample block having an upstanding peripheral side wall and being configured to receive the sample holder and an adaptor having an upstanding peripheral side wall configured to be positioned about the peripheral side wall of the sample block. When the peripheral side wall of the adaptor is positioned about the peripheral side wall of the sample block and the sample holder is received in the sample block, the peripheral side wall of the adaptor extends in an upward direction toward the sample holder.

    Abstract: In one aspect, a thermal cycler system including a sample block and a thermoelectric device is disclosed. In various embodiments, the sample block has a first surface configured to receive a plurality of reaction vessels and an opposing second surface. In various embodiments the thermoelectric device is operably coupled to the second surface of the sample block. In various embodiments a thermal control unit is provided. In various embodiments the thermal control unit includes a computer processing unit. In various embodiments the thermal control unit includes an electrical current source. In various embodiments the thermal control unit also includes an electrical interface portion configured to connect the thermoelectric device with the electrical current source by way of an electrical cable. In various embodiments the thermal control unit is oriented in a different plane than the sample block and thermoelectric cooler.

    Abstract: In one aspect, a thermal cycler system is disclosed. The thermal cycler can be comprised of a device housing and a cover that is operably connected to the device housing. The cover can include a handle portion, a device lid portion, a sample block platen, and a link bar. The device lid portion is attached to the proximal side of the handle portion with a first pin. The sample block platen is operably connected to the handle portion such that the sample block platen is positioned against the sample block when the handle portion is flush with the device lid portion and the cover is in a closed position. The link bar is pivotably connected to the device housing at a first terminal end portion and a second pin at an opposite second terminal end portion, wherein the handle portion is elevated away from the device lid portion before the cover is moved to an open position.
