Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods of using an aqueous composition or dispersion containing a water-soluble or water-dispersible synthetic polymer, and compositions formed thereof. The aqueous composition or dispersion is added to agricultural spray compositions, ink compositions, deicing or anti-icing compositions, latex paint and coating compositions, cleaner compositions, adhesives, fire-extinguishing chemical compositions, hydro-metallurgy/electro-winning compositions, compositions having organosilanes, personal care compositions, water-based hydraulic compositions, dust control compositions, and textile finish compositions, to impart properties including aerosol control, spatter control, shear stability, rheology control, transfer efficiency, oil/water reduction, sling control, emollient performance, film forming capability, surface activity, encapsulent ability, lubricity, thickening, and anti-wear capability, to the resultant composition formed thereof.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition of an oil, a dispersant viscosity modifier of a poly(meth)acrylate copolymer having a nitrogen-containing monomer in an amount to provide at least about 0.4 percent by weight nitrogen to the copolymer, and a succinimide dispersant prepared in the substantial absence of chlorine gives good performance as a transmission fluid.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition useful for reducing a friction by containing each specific amount of specific organic acid metal salt, a phosphorus-containing sulfur compound and a carboxylic acid (anhydride) in a base grease for elevating a dropping point. SOLUTION: This grease composition contains (A) a simple metal soup- thickened grease or a metal soup-thickened base grease as a (failed) complex grease, (B) 0.25-10 wt.% over-based metal salt of an organic acid, (C) 0.25-5 wt.% (C1 ) a compound of formula I [X1 to X4 are each O, S and among them one or more are S; R1 to R3 are each H, a hydrocarbyl (Z) or the like; (a), (b) are 0, 1], (C2 ) an amine salt or an ammonium salt of the compound (C1 ) in which R3 is H, (C3 ) a compound of formula II (R7 , R8 are each H or a group Z in which one or more are the group Z; X1 to X11 are each X1 to X4 ) or a compound of formula III (R9 is R7 ), or their mixture, (D) 0.25-5 wt.% phosphorous acid hydrocarbyl and (E) 0.025-5 wt.% a >=12C aliphatic group-substituted carboxylic acid (anhydride).

C, the phosphorus and sulfur compound being described in detail herein.
Abstract:
Improved grease compositions comprise a major amount of an oil based metal soap thickened base grease selected from the group consisting of simple metal soap thickened base grease, complex grease and failed complex grease, at least one metal salt of a sulfur and phosphorus containing acid, an overbased metal salt of an organic acid, a hydrocarbyl phosphite, and optionally, an aliphatic group substituted carboxylic acid, anhydride thereof and aliphatic group substituted lactone, wherein the aliphatic group contains at least about 8 carbon atoms in amounts sufficient to increase the dropping point of the base grease, as measured by ASTM Procedure D-2265 by at least 15°C.
