    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for solving collision through the use of an acquisition system and to provide a device to perform this method. SOLUTION: The collision recovery signal processing unit 48 of this invention has an antenna 50 having branches, time spatial filter means 52, 54 that are respectively configured to estimate a signal received by the antenna through the reception of different sequences of a training type symbol TLS so as to provide corresponding object signals SC1-SCM, and a signal selector 56 that is configured to select one signal or more from the object signals in compliance with a prescribed criterion. The prescribed criterion means a distance of the object signal from a finite alphabet or a mean square error among the object signals. The time spatial filter means 52, 54 perform an algorithm or a semi- blind algorithm on the basis of the same training.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an equalizer which has the effect of propagation reduced for the estimation of the channel impulse response of a transmit signal. SOLUTION: The channel impulse response of a signal transmitted over a channel of a communication system is estimated. Previous information regarding a transmit signal is obtained first. Then an estimated value of channel impulse response which minimizes an expected value of the distance between the transmit signal and a reconstituted signal is selected by using the transmit signal and previous information. For example, the minimized distance expected value is a cost function and represented, specially, as E ||r-Bh||2|r}. Here, (r) is a received signal, (h) is a vector representing the channel, and B is a matrix including transmission bits as components. Further, the previous information is obtained through data estimation which is performed for the transmit signal and obtained, specially, by a channel decoder 14. Further, an estimated value by, for example, channel observation is selected.

In the case of decision feedback from an equalizer output, a slicer 16 selects an input signal in an output of a data estimating part 11 and offers an output signal to a line 5. In the case of feedback from a decoder output, the switch selects a signal in an output of a channel decoder 13.

    Abstract: A frequency estimator is provided for use in a receiver of packetized data in eg. a TDMA system. The frequency estimator determines the signal frequency error ( f o ) with which a data packet has been received. It does this by relating data (gn) representative of some symbols to decisions (Sn) on those symbols. These symbols include not only training symbols (Nt) but also some information symbols (Nadd). The training sequence and input signal are fed into an equalizer and the frequency estimated according to "soft" and "hard" data and decisions based thereon.
