Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new routing protocol of Ad-Hoc network. SOLUTION: In this method, a source node holds the position information, routing information of all nodes inside a local node topology and the rough position information of partial nodes outside the local topology. When it is necessary for the source node to transmit a packet to a destination node inside the local topology, the routing information is already provided. When it is necessary for the source node to transmit a packet to a destination node outside the local topology, however, which node inside the local topology is closest to the destination node is specified while using the rough position information of the destination node. When this specified node is not the source node, the source node transmits the packet to the specified node and transmits the packet to the destination node later. In the other case, the packet is dropped.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which uses a geography-based routing protocol GRP to perform traffic routing from a source node to a destination node in an ad hoc network. SOLUTION: Each node holds a position list in GRP, and this position list includes position information of plural nodes in the network. Each node periodically transmits the position and the position list to adjacent nodes. When receiving the position list from the adjacent node, each node combines the received position list and its own position list to update position information of existing nodes.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a reverse-link outer loop power control(ROLPC) based on a bit error rate BER that has adaptive compensation with respect to a BER target and takes the difference between the mean value and the median of the BER into account in a wireless communication system. SOLUTION: In the case of carrying out the ROLPC based on a BER after decoding, a user metric target is changed as a function of the 'signature' of a communication channel. The base station utilizes the ROLPC system using the BER after decoding for the user metric target. The ROLPC system uses either of an instantaneous value of the BER and a value weakly filtered to compare the target SNR with the target BER for the adjustment. The target BER value is changed as a function of a secondary statistic of the received SNR (e.g. variance, standard deviation). The secondary statistic of the received SNR represents the signature of a communication channel.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capability for estimating QoS watched from an end user by providing a method and a device for estimating a bit error rate in respect to a bearer service to use a convolution coding scheme. SOLUTION: In a universal mobile telecommunication system(UMTS) based system, a wireless receiver performs 'effective signal-to-noise (Eb /No ) based BER estimation'. Especially, the wireless receiver is provided with a rake receiver, a processor and a memory. The rake receiver processes a received signal and provides an S/N value in respect to each of slots in each of receiving frames of the received signal. The processor converts such an S/N value in respect to each of receiving frames to an effective S/N value in respect to the received signal. Then, the processor uses the effective S/N value as a pointer or index in respect to a look-up table (stored in the memory) and retrieves a BER estimate value therefrom.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel routing protocol on an ad hoc network. SOLUTION: In this method, a source node collects position information from peripheral nodes, selects any one of peripheral nodes to perform geographical routing while using this selected position information and sets an inter-point link with this selected node (to become an adjacent node). Afterwards, the source node constructs almost (k) times (the value of (k) is the number of times of hopping to reach any node inside the desired local topology in this case) by exchanging the adjacent node list with the other nodes.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for inverse spread of a code series in a CDMA receiver and for preamble detection. SOLUTION: The receiver inside a code division multiple access(CDMA) communication system adopts this preamble detector for a random access channel (RACH, for instance). The RACH uses an orthogonal Gold code(OGC) series for a preamble signature series and/or spreads the preamble signature series by the OGC series. The preamble detector adopts fast orthogonal Gold transformation(FOGT) so as to inversely spread the preamble signature series (taking correlation with code numbers C1-C256, for instance) and also to generate a judgment statistic for detecting (identifying) the signature series used inside the preamble. The spread signals of the RACH are added to a code matching filter (CMF) matching a spread OGC series and the output signals of the CMF are sampled at a symbol rate. Fast Hadamard transformation(FHT) is applied to the sampled output of the CMF.

Abstract: In an ad-hoc mobile network, a geometry-based routing protocol (GRP) is used to route traffic from a source node to a destination node. In the GRP, each nod e maintains a location list, which comprises location information for a number of nodes of the ad-hoc mobile network. Periodically, each node transmits to its direct neighbors (i.e., those nodes with which it has a point-to-point link)(a) its location, and (b) its locati on list. Each node that receives a location list from an adjacent node merges the received location list into its own location list such that location information for existing nodes, and/or newly identified nodes, is current.
