Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of scanning moire on a screen by making vertical pitches of respective apertures of a shadow mask on parallel lines to the vertical axis variable in the direction of preventing occurrence of the scanning moire in the case an axis passing through the plane center of a face plate part and in the direction of orthogonal to the scanning beam is set as a vertical axis. SOLUTION: This color cathode-ray tube is provided with a shadow mask 1a having a plurality of approximately circular apertures 2a arranged corresponding to color-emitting phosphor dots on a face plate part 8. Regarding vertical pitches of the apertures 2a of the shadow mask 1a on the parallel lines Y2 to the vertical axis Y, the vertical pitches P2 on the parallel lines Y2 in the peripheral part A in the horizontal axis X side are set different from the vertical pitches P3 in the parts besides the peripheral part A on the parallel lines Y2 and set to be a value as to prevent occurrence of scanning moire. Consequently, the mutual interference of the scanning beam and the vertical pitches P2 of the shadow mask 1a is weakened and occurrence of scanning moire in the peripheral part A can be suppressed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the mis-landing of an electron beam in such an arrangement that a shadow mask formed of invar materials or the like has a smaller coefficient of thermal expansion than that of a glass bulb. CONSTITUTION:A shadow mask 2 provided within a face panel part 7 having a fluorescent film 4 on the inner surface of a front wall has a smaller coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the face panel part 7. In this arrangement, a spring 8 extending from the outer surface of a frame 6 is formed of a bimetal constituted by bonding a first metal plate 8a located on the fluorescent film 4 side with a second metal plate 8b located on a electron gun side having a larger coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the metal plate 8a. One end edge of the second metal plate 8b is fixed on the outer surface of the side wall of the frame 6, and a hole on the other end edge is fitted into a stud pin standing upright on the inner surface of the side wall of the face panel part 7, thereby making it feasible to supply a color picture tube showing an excellent color purity characteristic for both a cold district and a warm distict.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve color purity characteristics and brightness by increasing the lengthwise arrangement pitch of phosphor dots for the formation of a phosphor screen in a direction from a center section to a peripheral section, according to a specific change rate, and then enlarging the change rate near the peripheral section. CONSTITUTION:The lengthwise direction of a phosphor screen having a phosphor dot array is taken as an X-axis, and the direction orthogonal therewith taken as a Y-axis, with the center of the screen taken as an origin. Then, the pitch of phosphor dot trio array along the X-axis is gradually enlarged along a direction from the origin to the peripheral end of the screen, at the rate of a change within 10%. Furthermore, the rate of a change is gradually increased from an intermediate position between the origin and the peripheral end, for example, the neighborhood of a coordinate point of 150. As a result, curvature can be enlarged, regarding a phase panel and shadow mask sections in a zone from the intermediate position to the peripheral end. Also, the doming of the shadow mask and the improper landing of an electron beam can be lessened, thereby improving color purity characteristics and brightness over the whole area of the screen.
