Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide automatic generation of conditioning variables for constructing a data perspective for a target variable by utilizing machine learning techniques. SOLUTION: The best target variable predictors is determined and analyzed for a target variable, and employed them to facilitate the conveying of information about the target variable to a user. It automatically discretizes continuous variables and discrete variables utilized as target variable predictors to establish their granularity. A complexity parameter and/or utility parameter can be specified to facilitate generation of the data perspective via analyzing the best target variable predictor versus the complexity of the conditioning variables and/or utility. The conditioning variables (i.e., target variable predictors) of the data perspective can be adjusted to provide an optimum view, and/or accept control inputs from a user to guide/control the generation of the data perspective. Abstract: A computer-implemented system that facilitates establishing price(s) associated with items comprises a clustering component that clusters a collection of non-identical items into one or more sets of non-identical items. A pricing component receives one or more of active bids and stored bids and simulates an auction of at least one non-identical item within one of the one or more sets of non-identical items as if the non-identical items within the set were identical to determine price(s) associated with the at least one non-identical item. For example, the items can be at least portions of search terms received by a search engine.

Abstract: This document describes image-based human interactive proofs (HIPs). In some cases these proofs may be used when a browser at a client is used to access resources from a web server. Before access to the resources is enabled, the client can be challenged by the web server with an image-based puzzle. The image-based puzzle is configured to enable distinctions to be made between human input and non-human input. Input to answer the image-based puzzle can be formed via the client and communicated to the web server. The web server receives the input from the client and selectively enables client access to the resources based upon the input. In at least some embodiments, the web server can make use of a community database that stores client answers to image-based puzzles to assist in distinguishing between human input and non-human input.

Abstract: A system to facilitate trading of advertising comprises a publisher broker representing at least one publisher and to determine an ask for an advertisement space on the publisher's webpage, an advertiser broker representing at least one advertiser and to manage an advertiser's bid for the advertisement space, and an exchange to facilitate a transaction for the advertisement space between the publisher broker and the advertiser broker. A method of facilitating trading of advertising comprises receiving an ask from a publisher broker for advertisement space on a webpage, receiving a bid from an advertiser broker for the advertisement space, and pairing the ask with the bid. A method for enriching user information comprises aggregating user information about a user, storing the aggregate user information according to a user identifier, receiving the user identifier from an exchange, and sending the aggregate user information to the exchange.

Abstract: On-line and/or off-line advertisement interactions are tracked for indivi dual users. This information can then be utilized to adjust display paramete rs for an advertisement. Tracking can be accomplished via a client-side trac king mechanism and/or a server side tracking mechanism. The advertisement in teractions allow advertisers to adjust their advertising campaigns to better target their advertisements. The tracked interactions can include, but are not limited to selections (clicking, etc.) and/or conversions (purchases) an d the like. Some instances include a display component that can employ the u ser-specific interaction information to automatically adjust, for example, l ocation, frequency, and/or to whom an advertisement is displayed. The intera ction information can also be utilized for revenue generation by charging ad vertisers for the information and/or for adjusting their advertising campaig ns and the like. Instances can be utilized with on-line and/or off-line adve rtising media.

Abstract: The present invention leverages curve fitting data techniques to provide automatic detection of data anomalies in a "data tube" from a data perspective, allowing, for example, detection of data anomalies such as on-screen, drill down, and drill across data anomalies in, for example, pivot tables and / or OLAP cubes. It determines if data substantially deviates from a predicted value established by a curve fitting process such as, for example, a piece-wise linear function applied to the data tube. A threshold value can also be employed by the present invention to facilitate in determining a degree of deviation necessary before a data value is considered anomalous. The threshold value can be supplied dynamically and / or statically by a system and / or a user via a user interface. Additionally, the present invention provides an indication to a user of the type and location of a detected anomaly from a top level data perspective.
