Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a library system which can be equipped with a function equivalent to providing an I/E port without causing cost increase. SOLUTION: When transfer of a tape cassette from a slot 12 of a cassette shelf 9 to the I/E port is designated, the tape cassette in the slot 12 is treated as being in the I/E port by regarding that the tape cassette is transferred even though it is not really transferred. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a library system in which a user's load for searching by looking for labels and the danger of loading an erroneous tape cassette can be prevented without using a large scale library apparatus in which incorporated cassette shelves are increased. SOLUTION: A library body device 1 is provided with a cassette shelve storing a large number of tape cassettes, a drive recording or/and playing back tape cassettes, a cassette conveying mechanism conveying tape cassettes, a system controller controlling the drive and the cassette conveying mechanism, and an external side communication means for connecting to an external device. An external shelf device 40 is provided with, a library side communication means for connecting to the library body device, and cassette shelves storing a large number of tape cassettes, retrieves a tape cassette specified by the library body device 1, and displays a relevant tape cassette. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find out distributedly recording information using cartridges without reading contents of main recording mediums by providing auxiliary storage parts in addition to the main recording mediums. SOLUTION: A memory IC 35 functioning as an auxiliary storage part to be incorporated in a cartridge main body 5 and exposed contact parts of the IC are provided in the opening recessed part 31 provided at the rear part 23 of the cartridge main body 5. In the IC 35, distributedly recorded information are especially stored at the time of recording same group information while using plural pieces of tape cartridges in addition to a cartridge identification number, the volume of the cartridge or the like. As the distributed recording information, unique IDs having the same contents as bar codes are recorded and, thereafter, data distribution form information and the reproducing order of cartridges and also unique IDs corresponding to the order are recorded. As a result, even when data are distributedly recorded on two pieces of tape cartridges, consecutive data of the same group are reproduced by loading specific tape cartridges in a drive device and by reading the cartridges alternately.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily increase the cassette housing capacity of a cassette library system for recording/reproducing data by selecting an optional cassette from those housed in a cassette shelf. SOLUTION: A cassette library system comprises a library main body 1 including a cassette shelf, a drive for recording/reproducing a recording medium cassette, a cassette carrying mechanism for carrying the recording medium cassette and a system controller 31 for controlling these elements, a plurality of warehousing units connected in series to the system main body and each having a cassette shelf and a cassette carrying mechanism and a cassette transfer mechanism 56 for transferring a recording medium cassette between the library main body 1 and the warehousing unit 35, and the system controller 31 includes the operation steps of recognizing the connection of the warehousing unit 35 and the number of cassette shelves increased by the connection of the warehousing units and incorporating, when the warehousing units are connected, the increase of cassette shelves in a cassette shelf map as own cassette shelves.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly update firmware for a drive unit and a changer device main body. SOLUTION: The bar code or MIC of a tape cartridge(recording medium) is stored with identification information indicating the contents of information recorded in the tape cartridge. A changer device control part 16 identifies the contents of information recorded in the inputted tape cartridge based on the identification information read from them. Then, whether the information recorded in the tape cartridge is firmware information for a drive unit or firmware information for a changer device is discriminated, and when it is the firmware information for the drive unit, the firmware information update processing of the drive unit is carried out, and when it is the firmware information for the changer device, the firmware information update processing of the changer device main body is carried out. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deal with a great deal of information as management information regarding a tape cassette while simplifying a device constitution. SOLUTION: An antenna 77 provide in a tape cassette for a memory (MIC) for storing management information is disposed in a position for reading the management information before the tape cassette loaded from an insertion/ discharging port 24 to a conveying mechanism 10.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To replace a drive without interrupting the power of an entire device, and to facilitate smooth replacing work. SOLUTION: The front panel of an outer casing 5 is detachable. A drive 8 is removed toward the front side of the outer casing 5 by interrupting connection to a control circuit part in the removed state of the front panel of the outer casing 5, and attached from the front side of the outer casing 5 to be connected to the control circuit part.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a display controller capable of generating data for display of a lateral display state and a longitudinal display state with a few number of processes and without increasing hardware. SOLUTION: In a lateral display state, data for common display area display consisting of N×N pieces of pixels and data for right lateral display area display consisting of (M-N)×N pieces of pixels read out from a data memory for display are respectively written in a main memory area consisting of N×N pieces of addresses of a display memory and a submemory area consisting of (M-N)×N pieces of addresses of the display memory as they are. In a longitudinal display state, data for common display area display consisting of N×N pieces of pixels read out from the data memory for display and data for lower side display area display consisting of (M-N)×N pieces of pixels read out from the data memory for display are respectively rotated at 90 degrees in a counterclockwise direction to be respectively written in the main memory of the display memory and the submemory of the display memory.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely discriminate and manage the identification information of a recording medium cartridge. SOLUTION: This recording medium cartridge 1 includes an identification display part 4 provided so as to display identification information for discriminating a recording medium 3 inside an outer casing 2 by being stuck to the outer surface of the outer casing 2, and an identification information storage part 5 provided inside the outer casing 2 for storing identification information having the same content as that of information indicated by the identification display part 4. Also provided are a first reading means 8 for reading the identification information of the identification display part 4 and a second reading means 9 for reading identification information stored in the identification information storage part 5, and identification information read by the first or second reading means 8 or 9 is employed as the identification information of the recording medium cartridge 1 by an identification information prescribing means 10. If the identification information is not read because of the deterioration or the like of the identification display part 4, by using the identification information read from the identification information storage part 5 as that of the recording medium cartridge 1, identification information management is secured.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and efficiently perform changing work of drive devices constituting the information management device. SOLUTION: The information management device 1 for supplying an external equipment 8 with information requested in accordance with a command from the external equipment 8 or recording information has a housing part 3 for housing recording media 2, plural drive devices 4 provided for the purpose of reproducing and/or recording the recording media 2 and also being capable of changing the media and a carrier means 5 for taking out a desired recording medium 2 from the housing part 3 and carrying it to a drive device 4. Moreover, an operating means 6 is provided to be operated for selecting a drive device as a changing object, and a control means 7 is provided for the purpose of opening a transmission path of information between the drive device selected by the operating means 6 and the external equipment 8. Then, when it is confirmed that a transmission path of information between a drive device and the external equipment 8 is opened by the control means 7, the permission of changing this drive device is displayed on a display means 9.
