Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a bar-code reader. SOLUTION: The scanning module is formed as a thin and flat module of low electric power consumption by reducing its size and weight. The reverse reflective optical scanning module includes a light source attached to a substrate of the scanning module and at least one reflection mirror for reflecting and reorienting the light beam for scanning along an optical path existing on at least a portion atop the module. The scanning beam is longer than the length in the side part of the module to be passed with the scanning beam during the course of heading toward a target. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor device or a small image forming unit for forming the image of a code symbol by using a minimum amount of power. SOLUTION: The semiconductor device or the small image forming unit for forming the image of the optical code symbol has the pixels of not more than 1024. The short size of each pixel is 2 μm to 4 μm and it has the aspect ratio of 2 to 1. It is desirable that the pixels are arranged in a single row. The optical and electrical system of the small image forming unit is optimized so that the volume of one-dimension or the larger dimension on the small image forming unit is reduced. A bar code reader including a sensor for imaging a field of view of the reader having the single semiconductor device is further supplied. A device or technology for reducing and/or eliminating necessity for target illumination by the image forming unit are supplied. Thus, overall power consumed by the image forming unit and/or the whole size is reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical code reading system capable of increasing the inclusive area of the system by improving possibility to read a cods symbol on an object arbitrarily directed in an object volume. SOLUTION: This coma reading system is provided with plural images or scan modules oriented in various directions in respect to the object, handy reader 412, dock device 414, operator side rail, arch-shaped tunnel 416 and mirror. Besides, integrated gauges, input pad, system controller and display devices 419 and 422 ears provided as components related to a sales room facility or code reading terminal.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a small-sized electro-optic retroreflection scanning mode equipped with all necessary components and a completely built-in type. SOLUTION: This retroreflection scanning module is equipped with a base part, a 1st circuit board 416, and a 2nd circuit board 418 which is fitted almost at right angles to the 1st circuit board 416. The base part supports a light radiation body, which generates a scanning beam and an optical component which directs and converges light energy. A radiated beam reflection body reflects the light from a return mirror 212 on a reflection body fitted to a drive part for an oscillation body. The reflection body changes the direction of the beam to a mark to be read. The mark is scanned with the beam through the vibration of the reflection body. The reflected light is directed to the vibrating reflection body and made incident on a converging mirror 204, before reaching a detector 206. The detector 206 included in the module detects the light reflected from the mark scanned with the beam. The beam and the visual field of the detector 206 are scanned at the same time. Various implementation styles of vibration drive and optical arrangement are disclosed to make the scanning module small-sized.
Abstract:
Actuator systems are provided for automatically focusing an optical image reader. Techniques are also provided which are applicable to the design of imaging engines and imaging lens systems associated with image readers of various types. More specifically, the present invention relates to lens guidance assemblies and actuator systems for automatically focusing an objective lens associated with an imaging system of an optical image reader. The optical image reader is preferably an optical code image reader for imaging optical codes, such as bar codes.
Abstract:
In bar code symbol scanning systems employing laser, optical and sensor components, a mirrorless scanner arrangement mounts one or more of these components on a drive for repetitive reciprocating movement either about an axis or in a plane to effect scanning.
