    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy and stability of a sensor by disposing an Na conductive solid electrolyte and an anode electrode in such a manner that both do not come into direct contact with each other. CONSTITUTION:This sensor has a substrate 1 which consists of an electrical insulator, the Na conductive solid electrolyte which is formed on the substrate 1, a cathode electrode 2a which is formed in contact with one end of the solid electrolyte 2, the anode electrode 4 which is parted from the other end of the solid electrolyte 2 and is formed on the substrate 1, and Na2CO3 5 which bridges the other end 2b of the solid electrolyte 2 and the anode electrode 4. The electromotive force proportional to the concn. of carbon dioxide is generated between the anode electrode 4 and the cathode electrode 2a when a gas to be detected contg. carbon dioxide comes into contact with the sensor heated to 300-750 deg.C. The partial pressure of the carbon dioxide in the gas to be detected, i.e., the concn. thereof, can be known from the electromotive force shown by the sensor when the sensor is inserted into the gas to be detected. The accuracy and stability of the sensor are improved in this way.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect the generated drift on the side of a cathode electrode and to correct the output of a sensor by arranging a reference electrode on a carbon dioxide sensor, and measuring the electromotive force between the reference electrode and the cathode electrode. CONSTITUTION:An Na conductive solid electrode 1 has a cylindrical shape. An anode electrode 3 and a cathode electrode 4 are formed at both end parts. A reference electrode 5 is formed at the intermediate position between the electrode 3 and the electrode 4. An Na2CO3 film 2 in contact with the electrolyte 1 is further formed around the electrode 4. With respect to the obtained sensor, an electromotive force E1 between the electrode 3 and the electrode 4 and an electromotive force E2 between the electrode 3 and the electrode 5 are measured by using an electromotive-force evaluating device. When E1 - E2 is measured, the value becomes the value wherein the effect of a drift on the electrode 3 is removed. Therefore, when E1 - E2 is made to be the output of the sensor, the partial pressure, i.e. the concentration, of the carbon dioxide gas in the gas to be detected can be found.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve stability and high accuracy in sensor output by selectively forming Na2CO3 at the edge part of the contact surface between an anode electrode and Na conductive solid electrolyte and only at the outer part in contact with gas to be detected. CONSTITUTION:A cathode electrode is formed at one end part of an Na conductive solid electrolyte 1, and an anode electrode is formed at the other end. Since the anode electrode 4 is porous, many communicating holes 4b reaching a surface 1a of the electrolyte 1 are present. A current is conducted with the anode electrode as the (-) electrode and with the cathode as the (+) electrode in the electrolyte 1 under the temperature at which Na conductivity is displayed under the atmosphere containing carbon dioxide gas and oxygen. Then, reaction occurs between the oxygen and the carbon dioxide gas which are diffused through the communicating holes 4b at an edge part 5 of the contact surface. Thus, Na2CO3 is formed. Since the Na2CO3 are arranged at the outer part 5 in contact with gas to be detected, the electromotive force which is proportional to the concentration of the carbon dioxide gas is generated across the electrodes.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease the disperion in electromotive force of a sensor and to improve operating reliability by setting the bulk density of sodium carbon dioxide fro bridging an anode and Na-ion conducting solid-state electrolyte at 80% or more of theoritical density. CONSTITUTION:A cathode 3 is formed in contact with one side of an Na-ion conducting solid-state electrolyte 1. An anode 4 is formed in contact with or separated from the other side. Sodium carbon dioxide 2 is provided so as to bridge the anode 4 and the Na-ion conducting solid-state electrilyte 1. The bulk density of the sodium carbon dioxide is set at 80% or more of theoritical density. Thus, the sodium carbon dioxide is rigidly bonded to the Na-ion conducting solid-state electrolyte 1 and the anode 4, and the fixed state is stable. Therefore, dispersion in the fixed state of the sodium carbon dioxide between the sensors becomes small, and there is almost no peeling of the sodium carbon diodide by external force such as vibration.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to detect incomplete combustion at combustion apparatus precisely and with high accuracy by forming a diaphragm of a solid electrolyte having an oxygen ion conductivity in a bent plate shape and providing porous electrodes on both surfaces. CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm 1 of a solid electrolyte made of a sintered body of a solid solution consisting of zirconia or the like and magnesia or the like having oxygen ion conductivity is formed into a bent plate shape. Porous electrode plates (platinum, gold, nickel plates or plates of alloys thereof) 2 and 3 are provided on both surfaces of the diaphragm 1, and lead wires 4 and 5 are connected thereto to manufacture a senser 6. The senser 6 is provided so that the bent recessed surface is in opposite to the combustion flame. Thus, incomplete combustion is detected from the potential difference based on the difference between the O2 partial pressure in the exhaust gas on the recessed surface and that in the atmosphere, and an alarm is issued. Since the senser 6 is bent, even when the lift-up of the flame occurs, variation in the temperature distribution in the thickness direction of the diaphragm 1 is slight, and therefore the accuracy of the detection is not lowered.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure a low oxygen concentration of a ppm level by including a solid electrolyte having ion conductivity and low electron conductivity in a solid electrolyte layer where a heat resistant impact temperature has the ion conductivity of a specified temperature. SOLUTION: For oxygen measuring, an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte, for instance yttria zirconium is preferred, but it is weak to heat resistant impacts and therefor it is not suited for a casting sensor. Thus, a solid electrolyte layer is constructed in such a manner that a one end sealed tube 1 (Tammanin tube) is composed by using a solid electrolyte having ion conductivity where a heat resistant impact temperature is 120 deg.C or higher, for instance, magnesia zirconium, and an yttria zirconium film 5 is coated on a range of the standard pole of its inner surface having a reference material 2. Thus, since a temperature increase gradient is softer compared with the outer surface of Tammanin tube 1, the film 5 is not damaged, a sensor having small partial electron conductivity and large oxygen ion conductivity is provided and low oxygen concentration is accurately measured.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a stable, highly reliable carbon dioxide analyzer for measuring the concentration of carbon dioxide gas of gas under test containing fluorocarbon gas. CONSTITUTION:A carbon dioxide analyzer has an Na conductive solid electrolyte 11, a cathode electrode 12 formed in contact with one end part of the Na conductive solid electrolyte, an anode electrode 13 formed in contact with the other end part of the Na conductive solid electrode or separately, a carbon dioxide sensor 1 and a flon-gas adsorbing filter 3. The carbon dioxide sensor 1 contains Na2CO3 and bridges the other end part of the Na conductive solid electrode 11 and the anode electrode. The fluorocarbon gas adsorbing filter 3 is arranged at a gas-under-test introducing part 2 to the carbon dioxide sensor 1. In the carbon the Na conductive solid electrolyte test is adsorbed provided between the Na conductive solid electrolyte 11 and the cathode electrode 12. Since the fluorocarbon gas in the gas under test is adsorbed and removed with a fluorocarbon gas adsorbing filter, the carbon dioxide sensor 1 indicates the stable sensor electromotive force.
