    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain separating membranes having permeabilities matching to the purposes in a same production step by a method wherein two kinds of methyl methacrylate copolymers are used and the blending of the copolymers and additives incorporated are controlled. CONSTITUTION:A methyl methacrylate copolymer containing 0.5-10mol% of a polymerizable monomer having a sulfonate group and a methyl methacrylate copolymer containing 0.5-10mol.% of a polymerizable monomer having a quarternary nitrogen group are prepared into a membrane by using as a membrane- forming liquid a solution containing the copolymers in dimethyl sulfoxide, with a mixing ratio of (number of sulfonate groups)/(number of quarternary nitrogen groups) in the range of 5/1-1/5 and a polymer concentration of 5-35wt%. The semipermeable membrane thus obtained is substantially impermeable to albumin and has a water permeability rate of 1-2,000ml/hr.m .mm.Hg.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain novel hollow fibers useful for precise filtration membranes, etc. with a good reproducibility, by the dry jet-wet spinning of a spinning solution containing a methyl methacrylate copolymer containing sulfonic acid groups and a methyl methacrylate copolymer containing quaternary nitrogen atoms at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:In spinning hollow membranes by the dry jet-wet spinning method, (A) a solution containing a methyl methacrylate copolymer containing sulfonic acid groups, e.g. methyl methacrylate-sodium p-styrenesulfonate copolymer, and (B) methyl methacrylate copolymer containing quaternary nitrogen atoms, e.g. methyl methacrylate-2-methacryloyloxyethyltrimethylammonium chloride copolymer, as essential components in an organic solvent, e.g. diemthylformamide, as a spinning solution is kept at about 50 deg.C, extruded through a hollow fiber spinning spinneret and coagulated to give the aimed hollow fibrous separating membranes.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a separating diaphragm having permeabilities according to the objects in the same production step by a method wherein two kinds of methyl methacrylate copolymers are used and the blending of the compolymers and additives incorporated are controlled. CONSTITUTION:A methyl methacrylate copolymer contianing 0.5-10mol% of a polymerizable monomer having a sulfonate group and a methyl methacrylate copolymer containing 0.5-10mol% of a polymerizable monomer having a quarternary nitrogen group are prepared into the diaphragm by using as a diaphragm forming liquid a solution containing the copolymers in a solvent consisting of a dimethyl sulfoxide or dimethyl formamide containing 5-40wt.% of glycerin or formamide, with the mixing ratio of (number of sulfonate groups)/(number of quarternary nitrogen groups) in the range of 5/1-1/5 and the polymer concentration in the range of 5-30wt%. This separating diaphragm has a permeability to albumin of at least 30% and the water permeability of 0.1-60l/hr.m .mm.Hg.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To remove growth inhibiting components, and to obtain serum for cultivation having improved propagating properties, by filtering serum using a separation membrane having a specific inhibiting ratio aginst gamma-globulin and beta- lipoprotein. CONSTITUTION:Serum is filtered by a separation membrane exhibiting an inhibiting ratio of gamma-globulin of =20%, preferably >=50%, to give serum for cultivation. A membrane of a material, e.g., polymethyl methacrylate type, polyvinyl alcohol type, and polycarbonate type is preferable as the separation membrane. Even if adult bovine serum lacking propagating properties is used as an ingredient, the separation and removal of the growth inhibiting components by using this membrane give serum for cultivation having the same propagating properties as or more than those of bovine fetus serum or bovine infant serum.
