    Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for producing a thermoplastic resin film, which allows a biaxially oriented polyester film to be formed at a high speed of 400 m/min or more. The method of the present invention is a method for producing a thermoplastic resin film, in which a molten thermoplastic resin film is brought into contact with a cooling medium, to be cooled and solidifed, for producing a cast film, characterized in that the surface temperature of the cooling medium in the region immediately before the melt reaching position is kept at not lower than the glass transition temperature Tg and not higher than the melting point Tm of the thermoplastic resin. The apparatus of the present invention is an apparatus for producing a thermoplastic resin, characterized in that a cooling medium has a heater and a cooler to ensure that the surface temperature of the cooling medium in the region immediately before the melt reaching position is kept at not lower than the glass transition temperature Tg and not higher than the melting point Tm of the thermoplastic resin, and that the surface temperature of the cooling drum in the region immediately before the film leaving position is kept lower than the the glass transition temperature Tg of the thermoplastic resin.

    Abstract: A method of producing a thermoplastic resin film capable of giving a biaxially oriented polyester film at a speed of as high as at least 400 m/min and an apparatus therefor. Specifically, a method of producing a thermoplastic film, wherein a molten thermoplastic resin film is closely bonded to, and cooled and solidified, on a cooling medium to prepare a cast film, characterized in that the surface temperature of the medium immediately before the melt is brought into contact therewith is higher than a glass transition temperature Tg of the thermoplastic resin but is lower than a melting point Tm thereof. The apparatus has a heater device and a cooler provided in the cooling medium so that the surface temperature of the medium immediately before the melt is brought into contact therewith is higher than the glass transition temperature Tg of the thermoplastic resin but is lower than the melting point Tm thereof, and the surface temperature of the medium immediately before being peeled off is maintained to be lower than the glass transition temperature Tg of the thermoplastic resin.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deteriorated polymer generated from the inside of a nozzle from sticking on a sheet-like article extruded from the nozzle by applying a composite film of a nickel-phosphorous alloy and a fluororesin on an extrusion liq. contacting part of the nozzle in manufacturing of a plastic sheet. SOLUTION: A composite film 3 of a nickel-phosphorous alloy and a fluororesin is applied on the whole face of an extrusion liq. contacting part of a nozzle. For this purpose, the surface of an article to be treated is cleaned by shot blast wherein steel balls collide with the surface at high speed. Then, electrolessly plating wherein electrons discharged by oxidation of a reducing agent change metal ions into a metal film to form a rigid and porous nickel- phosphorous alloy film is performed. Then, heat treatment is performed to obtain higher surface hardness. Then, this film is impregnated with the fluororesin and heat treatment is performed e.g. at 300-400 deg.C for calcining the fluororesin.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the shape of a liquid pool during the formation of a coating film and to make the formation of the coating film having a uniform film thickness possible by setting the length along the progressing direction of the bottom end face of a front lip of a coating applicator shorter than the length along the progressing direction of the bottom end face of a rear lip. SOLUTION: This coating device is constituted by arranging a slit die 40 as the coating applicator above a stage 6 so as to face this stage. This slit die 40 has the front lip 58 and the rear lip 60. These lips are stuck to each other forward and backward in the forward and backward moving directions of the stage 6 and are integrally coupled to each other. A manifold 62 is formed in the central part in the slit die 40 and is connected via an inside passage to a coating liquid supplying hose. In such a case, the length LF at the bottom end face 70 of the front lip 58 is set shorter than the length LR at the bottom end face 74 of the rear lip 60. As a result, the shape of the liquid pool is stabilized during the formation of the coating film. The formation of the coating film having the uniform film thickness is made possible.

SOLUTION: The coating applicator for executing the coating method to be used for production of color filters is formed of a slit die 40 for holding a shim 62 between a front lip 58 and a rear lip 60, a manifold 68 for a coating liquid formed within this slit die 40 and the shim 62 formed between the front and rear lips 58 and 60. The device has a slit which communicates with this manifold 68 and is regulated with the bottom end opening as a discharge port. The spacing between lip wetting surfaces 76 forming the front and rear lips 58 and 60 covers the entire area of the lip wetting surfaces 76 and is confined within 4% of the deviation from the reference value.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the coating film formed on the front surface of a member to be coated from largely protruding from the discharge width of a discharge port and to make the film thickness of the coating film uniform in a transverse direction by disposing limiting means for limiting the discharge area of a coating liquid within a regulated discharge width between both ends of the discharge port. SOLUTION: A manifold 62 is formed in the central part in a slit die 40 and is always connected via an inside passage to a coating liquid supplying hose. A slit 64 extends perpendicularly downward from this manifold 62. This slit 64 opens to the rear surface of a slit die 40. In such a case, upward facing slopes 70 communicating with both ends of the discharge port 66 and horizontal relief surfaces 72 respectively communicating with the top ends of these slopes 70 are formed on the rear surface of the slit die 40 and are functioned as the limiting means. Namely, the clearance therebetween larger than the clearance H is sufficiently largely assured to limit the occurrence of capillarity and to confine the film thickness of the coating film within the permissible range over the entire area in its transverse direction.
