    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel stabilization system capable of removing dissolved oxygen from fuel to raise fuel temperature and being adapted to different demand conditions for removing oxygen. SOLUTION: This fuel stabilization system 10 is provided with a fuel tank 12 for supplying fuel to an engine 15 by a fuel pump 14. Dissolved oxygen is removed from fuel by a fuel stabilization assembly 16 provided with a plurality of oxygen removers 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 arranged in parallel. A part 30 of dissolved oxygen is removed from fuel by each fuel oxygen remover and is exhausted to the outside. Temperature of flowing-in fuel is within a scope of limit temperatures for preventing promotion of generation of insoluble substance under the presence of dissolved oxygen. Since fuel flowing out of the fuel stabilization assembly 16 contains less amount of dissolved oxygen, it is possible to heat fuel up to higher temperatures. Fuel is moved and heated by a heat transfer device 32. Efficiency of the engine is improved by improved temperature characteristic of fuel. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

    Abstract: A method for preventing fuel from migrating, i.e., infiltrating, into a mircoporous polymer membrane (16), such as that used in a fuel deoxygenator device (14) of an aircraft to remove dissolved oxygen from the fuel, includes heating the membrane (16) to reduce the size of micropores (32) in the membrane (16) from a first size (38) to a second size (46) that is large enough to allow migration of oxygen through the membrane (16) and small enough to prevent migration of fuel into the membrane (16). The membrane (16) is an amorphous fluoropolymer on a PVDF substrate and the micropores (32) are reduced in size by heating the membrane (16) at a temperature between 130 DEG C and 150 DEG C for 2 hours.
