Abstract: A print head (24) is disclosed for use in a marking apparatus in which a propellant stream (A) is passed through a channel (34) and directed toward a substrate (38). Marking material (28), such as ink, toner, etc., is controllably introduced into the propellant stream (A) and imparted with sufficient kinetic energy thereby to be made incident upon the substrate (38). A multiplicity of channels for directing the propellant and marking material allow for high throughput, high resolution marking. Multiple marking materials (28C, 28M, 28Y, 28K) may be introduced into the channel (34) and mixed therein prior to being made incident on the substrate (38), or mixed or superimposed on the substrate (38) without re-registration. One example is a single-pass, full-color printer.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a print head capable of high quality and high speed print ing. SOLUTION: There is disclosed a print head 34 used in a printer. In the print head 34, a propelling medium flows in a fluid passage toward a printing medium 38 and a printing material such as ink or toner is controlled to be introduced into the propelling medium flow such that sufficient energy for moving to the printing medium 38 is supplied to the them. A plurality of fluid passages for directing the propelling medium flow and printing material enable high quality and high resolution printing. The plurality of printing materials are introduced into the passage to be mixed in the fluid passage before printing on the printing medium 38. The printing materials are mixed and superposed on the printing medium 38 without executing aligning of a registor. One embodiment of a full-color printer having a single fluid passage is disclosed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition giving high quality printing, excellent in light stability and resistance to water and minimizing bleeding, etc., and excellent in durability of a printed image on a sheet of plain paper by including a specific liquid alcohol vehicle, a specific solid alcoholic component, a specific quaternary compound, a light-resistant UV absorber, a photoresistant antioxidant and a coloring agent. SOLUTION: This ink composition contains (A) a liquid alcoholic vehicle (e.g. benzyl alcohol) having about 5-40 dB/mm acoustic loss, (B) a solid alcoholic component (e.g. 3-methoxycatechol) having about 35-74 deg.C melting point and about 25-80 dB/mm acoustic loss, (C) a quaternary compound (e.g. perfluorodecyl = iodide)having about 40-80 deg.C melting point, (D) a light-resistant UV absorber (e.g. glycerol = 4-aminobenzoate), (E) a photo-resistant antioxidant (e.g. N- stearoyl-4-aminophenol) and (F) a coloring agent.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semisolid hot-melt ink-jet ink composition which is suitable for thermal ink-jet printing, has a compatibility with a wide range of plain paper and forms photo-quality images on coated paper and to provide a semisolid hot-melt ink-jet ink composition which forms high-quality, light- and water-resistant images on plain paper. SOLUTION: This composition is a nonaqueous ink composition containing a liquid cyclic vehicle having an acoustic loss value of about 5 - about 30 dB/mm, a solid additive component having a melting pint of about 30 - about 74 deg.C and an acoustic loss value of about 25 - about 80 dB/mm, a liquid crystalline nitrile compound, a light-resistant ultraviolet absorber, a light-resistant antioxidant and a pigment. This composition has an acoustic loss value of about 10 - about 80 dB/mm.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of giving prints having high quality, excellent light resistance and excellent water resistance and generating minimized oozing and the like, and forming highly durable printed images by including a specific liquid ester vehicle, a specific solid ester compound, a liquid crystalline ester compound, a light-resistant UV light-absorbing agent, a light-resistant antioxidizing agent and a coloring agent. SOLUTION: This ink composition comprises (A) a liquid ester vehicle having a sound loss value of about 5-40 dB/mm (for example, γ-butyrolactone), (B) a solid ester compound having a melting point of about 35-75 deg.C and a sound loss value of about 25-80 dB/mm (for example, methyl tetracosanoate), (C) a liquid crystalline ester compound (for example, cholesteryl oleate), (D) a light- resistant UV light absorbent (for example, glycerol 4-aminobenzoate), (E) a light-resistant antioxidizing agent (for example, didodecyl 3,3'-thiodipropionate), and (F) a coloring agent.
