Abstract: A print head (24) is disclosed for use in a marking apparatus in which a propellant stream (A) is passed through a channel (34) and directed toward a substrate (38). Marking material (28), such as ink, toner, etc., is controllably introduced into the propellant stream (A) and imparted with sufficient kinetic energy thereby to be made incident upon the substrate (38). A multiplicity of channels for directing the propellant and marking material allow for high throughput, high resolution marking. Multiple marking materials (28C, 28M, 28Y, 28K) may be introduced into the channel (34) and mixed therein prior to being made incident on the substrate (38), or mixed or superimposed on the substrate (38) without re-registration. One example is a single-pass, full-color printer.

Abstract: A marking apparatus is disclosed in which a propellant stream is passed through a channel and directed toward a substrate. Marking material, such as ink, toner, etc., is controllably introduced into the propellant stream and imparted with sufficient kinetic energy thereby to be made incident upon a substrate. At sufficient velocity, and with appropriate marking material, the marking material may be kinetically fused to the substrate. A multiplicity of channels for directing the propellant and marking material allow for high throughput, high resolution marking. Multiple marking materials may be introduced into the channel and mixed therein prior to being made incident on the substrate, or mixed or superimposed on the substrate without re-registration. One example is a single-pass, full-color printer.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing toner particles by which the toner particles having a small grain size and a narrow grain size distribution are generated in a shorter time and also coarse grain and soiling are eliminated. SOLUTION: This method of forming the toner particles includes a process to aggregate the toner particles by adding an aggregating agent to a latex emulsion of resin having a colorant mixed therein under a temperature condition above the glass transition temperature of the resin and a stirring condition, and a process of adding the flocculating agent consists of a first introduction to add at least about 40 wt.% of the total amount of the aggregating agent to be added at a high introduction rate and a second addition to continuously add the remaining aggregating agent at an adding rate lower than the introduction rate. When the particles grow to a desirable grain size, the particles are allowed to cool so that the temperature of the particles is lowered to the temperature below the glass transition temperature of the resin.

SOLUTION: The micro-electro-mechanical system comprises a substrate 108, the movable electrode 114 moving on a track within a moving plane surface 110 approximately vertical to the substrate surface, and at least one fixed electrode 116 for controlling movement of the movable electrode 114. Ninety percent of the electrode surface of the fixed electrode 116 extends over the surface covered with the movable electrode 114 when the electrode 114 moves on the moving plane surface 110 maximizing the contact of the movable electrode 114 with the substrate 108.
