    Abstract: A sheet stripping claw (2) for stripping copy sheets (16) from an arcuate imaging surface (12), comprising: a support element (4) and an electrically conductive stripping element (8) with a stripping leading end (10), and means (20, 22) for electrically biassing said stripping element (8). The electrical bias applied to the stripping elements or fingers (8) suppresses the build-up of toner thereon: minimal residue is left on the fingers (as a thin film) and large concentrations are eliminated. This prevents background contamination of a copy sheet. The bias has an AC component and also a DC one.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent toner contamination generated at the time of separating a copy sheet from a curved photosensitive body. SOLUTION: This copy sheet separation device 2 is formed out of support members 4 and 6, conductive sheet separation members 8 mounted thereon and formed to have separation edges at the ends, and a means 24 to apply electrical biases having an AC component across the separation members 8 and a photosensitive body 14. The electrical biases 20 and 22 applied to the separation members 8 restrain the accumulation of toner thereon. As a result, a small residual amount (as a thin film) remains on the separation members 8, but does not substantially concentrate. Thus, the background contamination of a copy sheet can be prevented.
