Moteur à soupapes latérales comprenant: -au moins un cylindre (2) débouchant dans une chambre de combustion (3), et dans lequel s'étend un piston (1) coopérant avec au moins un vilebrequin (9); -au moins une conduite d'admission (5a) et/ou d'échappement (5b) débouchant dans la chambre de combustion (3) et alternativement obturée(s) et ouverte(s) par au moins une soupape d'admission (4a) et/ou d'échappement (4b); Les conduites d'admission et/ou d'échappement débouchent dans la chambre de combustion (3) par le dessus, avec des soupapes comprenant une portée agencée dans une partie supérieure de la chambre de combustion (3) pour être déplaçable alternativement entre une position haute d'obturation, et basse d'ouverture. Le moteur procure une consommation réduite, de faibles émissions d'hydrocarbures, un taux de compression élevé, une bonne perméabilité à l'admission et à l'échappement, une bonne compacité et un coût réduit. Le moteur peut comprendre deux vilebrequins contrarotatifs procurant un niveau de vibrations faible, sans couple dynamique gaz,le rendant adapté à des applications de prolongateur d'autonomie pour des véhicules électriques.

Side-Valve design Engine with its Inlet and Exhaust Poppet- Valves on opposite sides of the Cylinder bore, and Inlet and Exhaust Ports approaching their respective Valves at an approximate angle of between 60 & 45 degrees to the Cylinder centre-line. This, combined with separate passageways in the Cylinder Head for Inlet and Exhaust, effectively achieves superior Gas flow volumes, keeps cool the incoming Fuel/Air charge and promotes efficient combustion; resulting in a performance similar to Overhead Valve type Engines.
