Abstract:
PURPOSE: An ADC(Analog-to-Digital Converter) of multi-step structure using a plurality of lamp signals and an analog-to-digital conversion method thereof are provided to reduce the number of switches, thereby reducing an error of a holding voltage due to switching. CONSTITUTION: A comparator comprises: an OTA(Operational Transconductance Amplifier) which compares a signal of inputted light with a lamp value; capacitances which performs coarse analog-to-digital conversion and fine analog-to-digital conversion; and switches. A comparator is designed to respectively apply lamp signals in a coarse section and a fine section to two lamp generators without Vref voltage of an existed structure. The comparator is able to remove f-ADC and c-ADC switches.
Abstract:
An analog digital converter, a CMOS(Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) image sensor having the analog digital converter, and a method for removing analog offset are provided to secure a dynamic range of the CMOS image sensor by removing an analog offset. An analog digital converter(20) includes a lamp signal generator(21), a comparator(22), a counter part(24), and a latch part(23). The lamp signal generator(21) generates and outputs a lamp signal corresponding to an analog offset for removing the analog offset. The comparator(22) detects whether the lamp signal is negative or positive and removes the analog signal. The counter part(24) counts an analog pixel signal inputted to the comparator(22) for converting the analog pixel signal to a digital signal. The latch part(23) stores a counting number of the counter part(24) by responding to an output signal(Vo) of the comparator.
