This invention relates to a robotic device 10.1, 10.2 and method for handling catalyst material 106, 206 in a reactor 100 by removing spent catalyst from the reactor and/or loading the reactor with fresh catalyst without an operator having to enter an interior of the reactor which increases operator safety. The robotic device includes a body 12, which is configured to engage a flange 104 of the reactor, and a handling arm which is configured for use both as a cleaning arm 18 and a loading arm 218. The handling arm is connected to the body and is angularly and longitudinally displaceable relative to the body. The handling arm has a segment which is telescopically extendible/retractable relative to the body. When used as a cleaning arm, the arm receives a vacuum line for removing catalyst. When used as a loading arm, a telescopic loading sleeve is connected to the segment.

A retractable center feed injection device can be employed to feed residual oil into a coke drum as part of a delayed coking process. The retractable center feed injection device can include a housing within which the injection nozzle slides between an extended and a retracted position. A feed inlet is positioned on an opposite side of the coke drum from the retractable center feed injection device. When in the extended position, the injection nozzle can couple with the feed inlet and thereby form an extension of the feed inlet into the center of the coke drum. In this way, the residual oil never flows through the housing.

The present invention provides a particle packing apparatus which can pack uniformly particles of catalyst, etc. without breaking the particles. The particle packing apparatus for packing particles into a vessel, comprises: a base held at a fixed position with respect to the vessel; a distributor which is rotational symmetrical to a central axis extended vertically and distributes the particles; a bearing fixed to the base and holding the distributor rotatably; a particle supplying unit fixed to the base, being rotational symmetrical to the central axis, having a bottom opening being smaller than an inner diameter of the bearing and supplying the particles to the distributor through the bottom opening; and a motor rotating the distributor.

The invention relates to a gas distributor nozzle (25) comprising a gas feed (1) directed vertically upwards and a float (13) with which an outlet orifice out of the gas feed (1) may be closed if no gas is flowing, wherein the float (13) has a center of gravity which is below a point of force application of the gas flow. The invention further comprises a reactor with a solid bed and at least one gas distributor nozzle (25).

A reactor comprising a plurality of vessels, each having a heat exchange surface for processing a fluid as a thin film flow, the vessels arranged in a concentric manner; a plurality of annular spaces situated between the vessels; and a pathway for directing a heat exchange fluid from one vessel to an adjacent vessel for creating a temperature differential between the heat exchange surfaces and the fluid being processed. A system comprising a fluid source, a reactor, and a vapor outlet and a processed fluid outlet through generated vapor and processed fluid are directed out of the reactor, respectively. A method comprising providing a plurality of concentrically arranged surfaces in spaced relation, distributing a fluid to be processed against the surfaces in a controlled manner to form a substantially uniform thin film flow thereon, and evaporating at least a portion of the fluid being processed along the plurality of surfaces.

An apparatus is described which includes at least one reactor, at least one linear piston pump, the or each piston pump including a tube, a piston and an arm coupled to the piston, the or each piston pump arranged to inject feedstock to a respective reactor, a beam or plate coupled to the arm(s) of the piston pump(s) configured to linearly drive the piston(s) and a linear actuator for driving the beam or plate. The piston pump has a volume of at least 50 milliliters and an output port having a diameter of at least 5 mm.

Systems and methods achieve the conversion of polymer containing material into petroleum products such as hydrocarbon gas, wax, crude oil and diesel. The reactor and its system are designed to subject the polymer containing material to pyrolysis in a way that results in a higher petroleum product yield than conventional existing systems. The system has controls which allow for the heating temperature, rotation of the body, and throughput rate, to be adjusted depending on the reaction time required for the material inside the reactor. The condensing system is able to separate the products into the desired petroleum products by percentage output ranging from wax to crude-like oil to diesel-quality oil.

A method of producing monomer droplets dispersed in an aqueous medium is provided, comprising providing an apparatus comprising a metallic membrane having a plurality of holes; wherein a monomer phase is in contact with a first side of said membrane; wherein an aqueous medium is in contact with a second side of said membrane; wherein said aqueous medium comprises one or more surfactant; and conveying said monomer phase through said through holes into said second volume under conditions sufficient to form a plurality of monomer droplets; wherein a shear force is applied at a point of egression of the first volume into the second volume; wherein the direction of shear is substantially perpendicular to the direction of egression of the first volume. Also provided is a method of making polymer particles comprising producing monomer droplets and then polymerizing some or all of the monomer in said monomer droplets.

A system having a reactor for continuous processing of fluid is provided herein. The reactor, in general, includes an outer vessel to accommodate fluids to be processed or used in connection therewith, an inner vessel situated within the outer vessel to serve as an energy exchange surface, and an annular space defined between the outer and inner vessels and along which processing of the fluids can be implemented. The continuous thin film reactor can be used to perform, for example, distillation and evaporation, fluid-fluid or solid-fluid-fluid reactions, organic reactions, cooling, and desalination.
Abstract:
The present invention features a center feed system for use within a delayed coking system, or any other similar system. The center feed system features an inlet sleeve which slidably engages a retractable nozzle, with inlet and outlet, in fluid connection with a feed source of residual byproduct, allowing residual byproduct to flow from the feed source into the interior of a vessel, thus effectuating or inducing even thermal distribution throughout the vessel.
