Abstract: Assays (100) may be performed with a luminometer (400) having a chassis (405) that may include a reaction vessel chamber (610). The luminometer (400) may also include a light passage (640) that intersects the reaction vessel chamber (610). The luminometer (400) may also include a cap (415) that, when in a closed configuration, prevents light emitted by external sources from entering the reaction vessel chamber (610) and from entering the light passage (640). The cap (415) may provide access to the reaction vessel chamber (610) when in an open configuration. The luminometer (400) may also include a calibration light source (460) optically coupled to one end of the light passage (640) and a light detector (630) optically coupled to another end of the light passage (640). The light detector (630) may include a sensing element for receiving light from the light passage (640).

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an inspection system and method for inspecting an optical surface of a laser scanner, the system including a directional optical source and an optical detector. The method includes moving one of the laser scanner or the inspection system to a position in which a beam axis of the directional optical source extends across but does not intersect the optical surface, between the optical surface of and the optical detector. The method further includes emitting a light beam from the directional optical source, across the optical surface so that light from the light beam is incident on debris disposed on the optical surface. The method further includes collecting the light at the optical detector to form an image that indicates presence of the debris on the optical surface of the laser scanner; and generating feedback to alert a user of the presence of the debris.

Abstract: A water quality sensor includes a housing including a light transmissive bucket mounted in an electrical washing appliance and a light transmissive inner barrel mounted in the bucket, an actuation module mounted in the inner barrel for detecting a water quality of a washing solution in the electrical washing appliance. Thus, if the bucket is cracked during manufacturing or due to a collision, the contact actuation module can still be well protected by the inner barrel, so that the washing solution in the electrical washing machine does not directly flow into contact with the actuation module to cause an accidental short circuit of the circuit substrate of the actuation module, improving the water resistance and service life of the water quality sensor.

Abstract: A gas cell assembly and applications of the gas cell assembly in absorption spectroscopy. An example gas cell assembly includes a gas cell body with an inlet for receiving a gas sample from a gas source; a first and a second end portions that allow optical transmission into and out of the body, the second end portion being substantially opposite from the first end portion; and a channel providing a path for the gas sample and optical beam(s) between the first end portion and the second end portion. The gas cell assembly also includes reflective surfaces outside the body to receive versions of the optical beams from the body and to reflect each version of the incident beam towards the body. A detector, then, receives a last reflected beam and transmits a corresponding data signal to a processing unit for analyzing the gas sample based on the data signal.
