Abstract: A camshaft phaser includes a stator having an inner wall with lobes extending radially inward and a stator flange extending radially outward, the stator flange having a plurality of apertures; a rotor coaxially disposed within the stator, the rotor having vanes interspersed with the lobes defining alternating advance chambers and retard chambers; a plurality of compression limiters extending through the apertures; a front cover which closes one end of the advance and retard chambers; a back cover which closes the other end of the advance and retard chambers; and a plurality of fasteners which extend through the apertures such that the fasteners apply a clamping load which clamps the stator between the front cover and the back cover such that the clamping load is transmitted through the compression limiters.

Abstract: A camshaft phaser includes an input member and an output member defining an advance chamber and a retard chamber; a valve spool moveable along an axis between an advance position and a retard position and having a valve spool bore with a phasing volume and a venting volume defined therein such that the phasing volume is fluidly segregated from the venting volume, the valve spool having a first spool recirculation passage and a second spool recirculation passage which is diametrically opposed to the first spool recirculation passage. The first spool recirculation passage and the second spool recirculation passage provide paths for oil to flow from the advance chamber or the retard chamber to the phasing volume depending on the position of the valve spool.

Abstract: A method for estimating a remaining range of a vehicle battery charge includes identifying at least one route characteristic of a portion of a selected route, determining a vehicle energy consumption profile for a vehicle, and determining a current state of charge of a vehicle battery of the vehicle. The method also includes determining, for the selected route, a route energy consumption profile and calculating an estimated remaining charge for the vehicle battery at an end of the selected route based on the state of charge of the vehicle battery and the route energy consumption profile. The method also includes, in response to a determination that the estimated remaining charge is less than a lower limit of the vehicle battery charge range, determining a target vehicle speed profile based on the at least one route characteristic, the vehicle energy consumption profile, and the state of charge of the vehicle battery.

Abstract: A method for controlling vehicle propulsion may include identifying at least one route characteristic of a portion of a route being traversed by a vehicle and determining a profile for a target vehicle speed based on the at least one route characteristic and a vehicle energy consumption profile. The method may also include, in response to detecting a lead vehicle, determining a vehicle speed of the lead vehicle and determining whether to avoid triggering initiation of the vehicle follow mode by the vehicle propulsion controller based on (i) a distance between the vehicle and a triggering threshold and (ii) the vehicle speed of the vehicle. The method may also include, in response to not triggering vehicle follow mode, determining, based on the vehicle speed of the lead vehicle and the profile for the target vehicle speed, a traveling distance between the vehicle and a trigger threshold.
