Abstract: A system for assisting with a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) treatment being administered to a patient. In one aspect, the system includes electrodes to provide an ECG signal of the patient, one or more sensors configured to measure an intrinsic myocardial wall movement of the patient, and one or more processors. The one or more processors are configured to perform operations including: during the CPR treatment being administered to the patient, receiving an input from the sensor(s), processing the input from the sensor(s) and the ECG signal, determining, based on processing, whether the intrinsic myocardial wall movement is indicative of a perfusion movement of the patient's heart, and providing an indication to a user of the system based on the determination.

Abstract: Among other things, in one aspect, we describe a system for assisting with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The system includes at least one sensor; and one or more processors configured for calculating a chest compliance relationship based on data received from the at least one sensor, and determining a neutral position of chest compression based at least in part on a feature of the chest compliance relationship. The system can take the form of an active compression-decompression device.

Abstract: A device for stimulating at least one cranial nerve and/or spinal nerve is described. The device includes a vibratory motor, and an earpiece, wherein the earpiece is molded substantially to fit within the external ear canal and contacting the concha of a subject's ear. A method of reducing migraine headache and trigeminal neuropathy pain is also described. The method includes positioning a vibratory earpiece within an ear of a subject, applying vibrational energy to at least a portion of the skin of at least one of the auditory canal, auricle and concha of the ear, thereby stimulating at least one sensory fiber of at least one of cranial nerve 5, cranial nerve 7, cranial nerve 9, cranial nerve 10, spinal nerve C2, and spinal nerve C3. A method to normalize breathing, normalize blood pressure, induce sleep, increase salivation, and improve vertigo, nausea, and visual dysfunction accompanying migraine is also described.

Abstract: A system includes a guidance device that provides feedback to a user to compress a patient's chest at a rate of between about 90 and 110 compressions per minute and at a depth of between about 4.5 centimeters to about 6 centimeters. The system includes a pressure regulation system having a pressure-responsive valve that is configured to be coupled to a patient's airway. The pressure-responsive valve is configured to remain closed during successive chest compressions in order to permit removal at least about 200 ml from the lungs in order to lower intracranial pressure to improve survival with favorable neurological function. The pressure-responsive valve is configured to remain closed until the negative pressure within the patient's airway reaches about −7 cm H2O, at which time the pressure-responsive valve is configured to open to provide respiratory gases to flow to the lungs through the pressure-responsive valve.

Abstract: A hippotherapy device includes a saddle for receiving a person thereon, a programmable movement control, and an automatic movement device for automatically moving the saddle according to a movement pattern program. The program specifies a sequence of target values of positions and orientations of the saddle in the locality of the movement device in order to execute the movement pattern. The hippotherapy device further includes a person securing device having a main support on which a body strap is mounted, at least one sensor for detecting at least one physical variable characterizing the body posture of the person on the saddle, and an auxiliary control device configured to compare expected values of the physical variable with current values of the physical variable detected by the sensor, and to trigger an associated safety function, if a deviation of the current values from the expected values exceeds a predetermined tolerance threshold.

Abstract: The invention relates to a medical respiratory assistance apparatus for delivering a respiratory gas such as air, which may or may not be enriched with oxygen, to a patient during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), having a source (1) of respiratory gas, for example a micro-blower, for delivering a respiratory gas to said patient during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and means (4) for measuring the CO2 content, signal-processing and control means (5), and at least one graphical user interface (7). According to the invention, the signal-processing and control means (5) process the CO2 content measurement signals, to select the maximum CO2 content value (Vmax) during a given time period (dt), and to transmit this maximum value (Vmax) to the graphical user interface (7), which displays this maximum CO2 content value (Vmax).

Abstract: An operator supervising a wearer of an exoskeleton is verified by performing a verification routine on the operator using the exoskeleton. If the verification routine is unsuccessful, the exoskeleton is caused to follow a pre-established response routine. If the verification routine is successful, movement of the exoskeleton is allowed.
