Abstract: A powered exoskeletal device is worn by a patient with a walking disorder. Baseline measurements of the patient's gait are made with the device, and a torque profile for providing assistance to the patient is selected based on the particular patient's baseline. Throughout rehabilitation, a gait quality metric is monitored and adjustments are made to the torque profile accordingly.

Abstract: A hip component for a legged mobility device has a hip body, and a hip insert assembly for adjusting a size of the hip component. The hip insert assembly includes a carrier assembly mounted to the hip body, and a main insert assembly spaced apart from the carrier assembly. Adjustment screws are connected to the carrier assembly and the main insert assembly. The carrier assembly includes an adjustment mechanism including a drive shaft and an adjustment chain to effect translational movement of the adjustment screws to move the main insert assembly to adjust both width and depth of the hip component simultaneously. The hip component includes abduction/adduction control mechanism that includes elastomeric bushings that are selective as to resistance level and shape to control a degree of abduction and adduction, and to preset an initial angle. A leg component includes a central carrier, and first and second housings that are located on opposite sides of the central carrier. An adjustment mechanism including a drive shaft that drives driven shafts, such as by a worm/worm gear interaction, effects movement of the first housing to relative to the second housing to adjust a length of the leg component.

Abstract: A therapeutic pressure band for applying pressure across a muscle or muscle groups on a mammalian limb is described. The band is particularly well suited for treating “shin splints.” The band includes a plurality of straps that are connected together via a connecting material. Ends of each of the straps have adjustable fasteners for securing and tightening the band around a limb. The band also possesses a plurality of pressure members (e.g., elongated rubber tubes) that apply separate and discrete areas or points of pressure in a line across a muscle, tendon, bone, or muscle group and generally perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the limb.

Abstract: A robotic walker and associated method are provided. The robotic walker includes a housing containing a control unit operatively connected to a drive unit. The drive unit is operatively connected to a pair of motorized drive wheels. The robotic walker includes first and second winches, each winch having a strap that can be retracted by its respective winch, each winch is operatively connected to the drive unit, each strap having an end adapted to be removably connected to a pair of leg braces worn by a user. The first and second winches may retract a portion of each respective strap to move the legs of the user forward. A first control button is operatively connected to the control unit. The control unit is configured to operate the robotic walker in at least one control mode and the first control button being operable to start the at least one control mode.

Abstract: A decompression device may include a support structure to which a harness and a base may be coupled. A positional motivator may also be coupled to the support structure. The positional motivator may be configured to both change and maintain the distance between the base and portions of the harness. The base may be positioned on a surface or structure, and portions of the harness may be positioned around the body of a user, such as under the arms and around the back. The user may manipulate the positional motivator to position portions of the harness a desired distance from the base. Optionally, the user may then lean forwards with the support structure and the harness will provide additional lift, and therefore decompression, to the body and back of the user.

Abstract: A wearable apparatus comprises a passive artificial knee that comprises first and second links coupled at a knee joint, a passive compressive force generator coupled to the second link, and a release mechanism coupled to the first link. When an angle of the first and second links is less than a toggle angle, the release mechanism locks in a first operational mode, and the force generator compresses, resisting flexing of the second link. When the angle is larger than the toggle angle, the force generator decompresses and encourages flexion of said second link. When the force generator is extended and said compressive force is small, the release mechanism moves into a second operational mode, wherein the force generator neither resists nor encourages extension and flexion of said second link from said first link. The wearable apparatus comprises an exoskeleton trunk configured to couple to an upper body of a user.

Abstract: The disclosed stretch exercise system includes a waist harness, an upper limb extension unit having a right and a left upper limb elastic straps which are set symmetrically on the waist harness and has a wrist loop, a lower limb extension unit having a right and a left lower limb elastic strap units which are set symmetrically on the waist harness, two Achilles tendon retro-stretch angle units connecting with the right and the left lower limb elastic strap units respectively and two sole fastening units set thereon respectively to hold the feet of a user. When the disclosed system is operated, the static balance is reached with the force applied on the upper limb extension unit and the force applied on the Achilles tendon retro-stretch angle units by the user.
